I think that stars/stripes bar is fantastic! I will be on the lookout for a 1oz silver bar with a nice design on it, I have a 007 bar in 1oz flavour however coins are more my thing, I got the 007 because in my opinion it is a nice collector piece 👍

I featured the 1oz version on Monday.  And it's lovely!!!! I agree completely.  The 10 oz shows the details much better. Both of those are having quality problems but mainly if your very picky. A rare few the problems are very noticeable

2008 RAM 1oz Silver Proof " Reg Mombassa" Kangaroo

Struck by the Royal Australian Mint, this was the second in the highly successful "Artists" series of 2007-09.

"Well-known" and "legendary" Reg Mombassa has been best known in Australia for a multitude of art works and styles as well as music. His art work has graced the Mambo Graphics clothing series, music recording covers, books, calendars and  he has even had the honour of painting one of Melbourne's historic trams. Reg was also extremely famous for his musical skills as co-founder and guitarist in the band Mental As Anything.

Oh, really? Personally I had never heard of him prior to this coin and have had zero intention of ever learning anything more, even based on this alluring CV.

"Shining through on this coin is Reg's typical Aussie larikin sense of humour for which he is so well known." Righty-ho, thanks for clearing that upAll well and good if you're an Ozzie, but a load of irrelevant tosh if you're not.

Regardless of the sycophantic gushings of the RAM, I really like this rather endearing fellow and it proved to be extremely popular with collectors too, the full mintage of 7,500 selling out very swiftly. Of all the proof Skippies. this version has proved the best "investment" and is still highly sought after - as, indeed, are the both its FrUnc and gilded counterparts.

That seems rather unfair! :o Looking at his picture I am sure he would have made a very fine, valued and loved BBC children's TV presenter in the 70s or 80s :)

I wasn’t quite sure where to go next after my initial foray into historic sets and to follow on from my purchase of the 1902 Edward VII Matte Proof Set.
Decided on this beautifully preserved 1911 George V Proof Coronation Set- a tiny 952 10 Coin ‘short’ sets were issued.

Once again, thank you to @Elements @Roy & @SilverMike who helped me decide 😀

I hope so.
Some trepidation prior to purchasing- I had to shed some weight in Gold to help purchase- but the Set in hand has far exceeded my expectations and the verbal appraisal of the vendor- the hi-resolution photographs supplied prior to purchasing didn’t do the set justice.
I think it will be a worthy investment in years to come. 😃
