Stunning 1912 Canda $10 dollar gold coin rare low mintage only 1912 - 1914 with the 1912 being the rarest, brought to you in high definition mint state lustre!!

Canada’s First Gold Coin

Canada produced its first gold coin in 1908, but that was a UK Sovereign.

Four years later, came the $10 gold and it was unmistakably Canadian.

Each coin is struck on a 900 Fine Gold 26.92 mm planchet and weighs 16.72 Grams (.4838 oz Fine Gold). The obverse features a crowned portrait of King George V. The reverse bears Canada's Coat of Arms which was originally adopted in 1868

Almost all of the gold used for the coins came from the nearby Klondike River Valley in the Yukon Territory, the site of one of the largest and most frenzied gold rushes in history.

Short-lived

With the outset of the First World War, the Canadian gold coin program was closed in favour of gold bars.

As Canadians fought the war, its government took a tight hold of its gold reserves, with almost all of the coins produced for circulation never reaching the public.

Instead, they were tucked away in the vaults of the Bank of Canada.

I really thank you for showing your new entries to your amazing collection and always give some informations about those coins. It's a pleasure to see a great collection get every time upgraded and not just bigger.

Thought I'd see what these are all about. There's a good chunk of weight to it but not sure I'm a fan of the Mexican gold yet 🤔

...

I was able to see and handle a Centenario at a pawn shop. For me it is a little too large and chunky. Mexican gold is nice though, have a look at the Hidalgos, 10 down to Dos Pesos.

It's like with one ouncers or Double Eagles with me, I like everything around a quarter ounce better.

I have to say if I was collecting gold coins, this one would be top of my list to get. I think they are the best looking 1oz gold coins period.
