Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Isn't the 2020 Quokka coin part of the same series? Also, how do you find the Wombat coin? The Quokka coin looked great on pictures but kinda fell flat when observing in real life, so I'm on the fence about the wombat one.

Well, there is no any info that Quokka and Wombat are somehow "connected", except they indeed look quite similar. For Wombat, in various dealers' coin description it is said that it's the start of new series, although I couldn't find such wording on Perth Mint site. Maybe it was said in internal communication from Mint to the dealers.

As an example, here is the LPM page:

https://www.lpm.hk/2021-1-oz-australia-wombat-9999-silver-bu-coin.html

As to the coin itself, I can't say it's the best example, the usual Perth high quality, but quite dull design. In fact, I like Quokka much more, maybe because it is smiling. 🙂

But I bought several Wombats, maybe the price will appreciate, if the series turn to be a success :))

Just got my first ever historical silver coins for my stack.

I was holding them thinking of all the debts paid and made with them, how many times they had been earned and spent when it really hit me. These coins, even today have real intrinsic value and I had bought them with money with the intrinsic value of fancy toilet paper.🤔

I am into these types of coins and have been getting loads recently from my good friend @DuncanWylieWilson there is something about these that we have somehow lost in todays, modern world and I agree.. we can only guess at what that were used for in the past 🙂

Yeah, I'm going down another rabbit hole with the historical coins and there is a lot to take in.  I got them from Duncan aswell and he was quite patient with educating me.👍
