Some 1937 Aussie Crowns. 👑 🇦🇺 "Casey's Cartwheels" was the nick-name given to these large silver five shillings, after Lord Casey - Treasurer of Australia who issued these for circulation. Being so heavy, they weren't well recieved by the general public, so they only lasted for two years. There were over a million 1937 crowns minted, but the 1938 mintage is only about 1/10th of the 1937. "The rumour is that many more 1938 crowns were minted but rather than being released into circulation but they were sold to China where in 1948 they were re-minted as Chinese (Sun Yat-Sen) dollars." 

These are hefty to hold and can be quite 'dramatic' in appearance when the toning happens to be right. There's apparently one (or maybe two?) variations of the 1937; a minute speck under letter I on the reverse (a.k.a. the "dot variant").

Not sure which coin I prefer 😁

Aah yes- I remember you telling me you had to buy the 50p to prevent Forum members coming around your house with the thumb screws and Black & Decker's ready to kneecap you 😂

Ive used them a couple of times. You get to build up "Points" as well. I've got £6 worth at the moment 😀 I never though of using them for this particular 50p.

The Angry Birds coin came free with the 50p, I suppose that justifies the extra £10 they charged compared to the RM but I'm not fussed, I got the coin 🙂

Hopefully will be a winner in the future 👍

Yes- good firm to deal with- like the loyalty points idea- Can't complain about the Birds coin- there's not a lot to not like about freebies!  Nice one.

Yes- I was taken aback when I opened the package today.  For such a low premium, its a fabulous Gold coin. However, where do you go from here? except to save up for another one or two- a 1921 and or 1931 would be nice.
