If I may ask, how did you manage to get a discount on it? By the way, looking at this lovely coin again, I think I'm going to order one now for myself to compliment my Victoria celebration sovereigns. I'm just in two minds on whether to get the regular or piedfort -- which has a low mintage.

There were some Royal Mint discount codes floating about during the Gruffalo 50p release.  

TBH If it wasnt for the code, I wouldn't have bought it. Its expensive at full price. If you really want it though, go for it.

I was going to do quiz on this but it would be toooooo easy....show the first pic and see who would get it..... everyone...Anyway, I finally got hold of a 1921 Perth sovereign, my first full one. I'm going to get a box/case for it , could someone tell me if the Royal mint screw caps are the same outside dia as normal 22mm caps?. Thanks... Pics taken with my iPhone and a couple of clip on lenses, one a macro and the other a 60x mini microscope... both very good for the money.

The other coin that arrived today is a Japanese 4 mon from about 1769 - 1817..I quite like the early Japanese coins, different shapes and sizes.

One of my recent additions to my 1937 collection.

1937 Proof Penny graded PF67 BN By NGC with a top population of one.

This coin was advertised on the famous auction site. Unfortunately the seller would not post outside the USA.  So I could see the coin but not purchase it.

This is where the forum and the community helped me out. 

Thanks to the help and efforts of long time forum member @Pampfan I was able to acquire the coin.

Thanks to @Tomcbol my two 'Big Five' coins have arrived this morning. 

 

Portugal 20 Escudo's (0.800 Silver - 1,000,000 mintage) from 1953. I've almost got the full set of circulating, commemorative, silver Portuguese Escudos now. Think there are two more left in the collection. Ended up paying a little less than the advertised price (including delivery from Spain). 

And finally, nothing too special here. A circulating 1951 5$00 Escudos coin (Silver - 0.650) which i saw going cheap on eBay from a UK seller. No doubt a standard silver Escudo circulation collection will happen at some point!

The rarest of the rare! Having collected 1oz Privy Kookaburras for 4 years, I have at last, got my hands on the ‘Holy Grail’.....

In 1993, The Perth Mint issued an American Eagle Edition, consisting of a 1oz, 2oz and 10oz Proof Eagle Privy coin. Mintage only 500.!

Unfortunately for me, I have had to buy the complete set just to obtain the 1oz coin for my collection.

At this point I would like to note, I have only received the 1oz coin, the rest are to follow in a few weeks time.

HUGE thank you here to a fellow forum member @CoinStruckwho has very kindly sourced these for me, and arranged safe delivery to me here in the UK..a top drawer member.

Another great package from Portugal arrived this morning. Been looking forward to this one. Managed to cut a great deal with a retiring dealer over in Portugal via eBay. Indiviudally, all the coins were cheaper than the market norm. Really happy with my purchases here and the dealer was a top drawer gentleman. He's already on the hunt for some coins missing from my collection through his contacts over there. What a guy! 

• 500 Escudos - 0.500 Silver Circulating commemorative:
  • 1995 - 'Saint Anthony' - Little disappointed with the quality of this coin. Will probably be replacing this one. As it's only £3 or so, not overly concerned! 
  • 1996 - 'Banco de Portugal'
  • 1997 - 'Padre Antonio Vieira'

• 10 Escudos - 0.835 Silver Circulating commemorative:
  • 1928 '- Battle of Ourique' 

• 1 Escudo - 0.835 Silver Circulating commemorative:
  • 1914 - 'Establishment of the Republic - 1910' - Absolute beauty of a coin! The quality of the obverse on this coin is unreal! I've seen similar quality coins go for triple the price compared to what i paid for this one. Reverse has what looks like a flap mark at the top which is a shame.

Nice silver, I noticed your a sun hater, is that cos your a Liverpool supporter or just hate the stories about hillsborough?....I knew they almost made the sun unsellable in Liverpool after calling the fans pickpockets....which even for the sun was disgusting.
