A good choice as your first sovereign.

I like the George V Sovereigns. So often overlooked by his grandmother, the Victoria sovereigns.

I think as time passes the George V Sovereigns will become the ‘new’ Victoria Sovereigns. But only time will tell. I particularly like the small head George V Sovereigns minted 1929-1932.

Don't do this to me, I missed out on two this morning at an auction. I didn't want to go over spot really so I don't know how the other party was going to go but feel like I missed out now as the few for sale are strong money!

Werent these two were they? If they were, you dodged a bullet. They are fake. They may be real gold, but not the real coin. They are also underweight - 15gm - should be closer to 16gm.

It was, I read a thread about the fakes/copies too but these looked sharper. Good point on the weight, the descriptions are so brief now it's all online.

I see I may have some competition at my local then 🤣 Although I've not brought much as sovs were going for night on £400 at the last one.

Take a look at that closeup - see the red circled area? it has English wording 22MOM - clear sign of a fake

After missing out on a 3G like many others, and waiting for what seems like forever on a half sov from Atkinsons, I picked up this Virtues coin from Silvertrader. First in a series of 6 I believe. 

I think it is stunning. Must say I'm a fan of the EIC artwork, some of their coins are really underrated IMO. Such as...

Great quality for bullion, no spotting on any of mine. Looking forward to the next 5 Virtues.
