Nice eBay win.  A 1950 Proof issue of King George VI coinage.  Only three Proof sets issued throughout George VI reign, the Royal Mint issued this as a commemorative of the mid- century.

Nice heavily toned and untouched set.

Popped into town today and picked up an 1820 shilling and crown from the market stall traders and an 1892 Melbourne mint mark jubilee head sovereign from the local bullion dealer in the High Street.

I did have the luxury of going through the stack and picking out the best.

Truth be told, they were all pretty good - possibly because it turns out they're made in Belgium!

A new area for me. I was keen to find a really sharp looking George and the Dragon crown and found this at a price I could afford. 

It's obviously had a scrub down at some point but I really don't mind as for me it's those clearly preserved details I wanted to see.

Got a couple of nice coins in today, well not a couple but a full set of indian heads and flying eagles so had to grade  them all and here are the highlights.

1909 s with double mint mark..RARE ... 1877....1858 large letters...1858 small letters

The Jubilee issues are splendid, the Bergdahl design looks like it was designed with the 50p in mind, and the 50p set with the different Obverses is one to treasure.  Also note the nuance of the inscribed edge of the £5 Crown and Piedfort as opposed to the .999 Milled Edged 2oz coin.

Also a nice clean 1946 George VI ‘last of the Silver coinage’ set and an uncirculated Churchill set.
