That's a nice coin!

I was quite interested in the label on the slab, is there anything particularly different between a PF70UC and a SP70UC enhanced finished? I don't quite understand why they've graded it as a specimen and not a proof on this occasion.

I did not understand the SP designation, this is the NGC explanation from thier site -

the US Mint has occasionally produced coins that fall short of the definition for actual Proofs yet are clearly superior to the normal currency issues. In past generations, such pieces were routinely described as Proofs by coin dealers and catalogers. Since the 1960s, these would-be Proof coins have gradually become accepted under the term "Specimen," which is abbreviated SP on the NGC certification label.

Another couple of coins to add to my Ghana collection. Just 2 more left. Great condition. Loads of history of military coups, government initiatives and monarchies told through the coin design. Very rare and ever been graded by NGC so I’ll be sending them off to be preserved 😊

This is so interesting! I've never seen these coins (medals? tokens?) before. I tried to search for more information about them but found only one other mention of them on the internet which you might have also seen over here. Do you have any other information?

Which is also quite interesting is that the picture of the gold coin pasted in the thread under the link above seems to exactly match your coin (judging by several distinguishing marks - e.g. a dot in the middle of the cross, at 3 o'clock to the right of "V", marks on the edge under "RELIANCE", etc...). Could it be that it is the very same piece? Which also makes you wonder - how many of them there is? Is there any other at all?

On the other hand, I cannot find any such similar features on the silver coins...

Anyway, very interesting, thanks for sharing!

A lovely 1953 New Zealand Commemorative Proof Set.  Inaugural Portrait, fantastic Reverse designs and nicely presented.
Sets don’t come much more satisfying to own than this.  My favourites are the Crown, Florin and Penny 😃

Big thanks to @Tn21!

Received this little beauty in the post! Love the use of stamps, so much more cool/interesting than just a SD label alone!! :)
Now all I need to complete the set is a 10oz Greyhound at a decent price! :)

Got one? PM me please.

Just ordered last one @James32. Superstar! Thanks mate!

I only noticed this because I was tagged into an adjacent post.

It would not have been the end of the world to have missed it. Someone I know was 13 pence cheaper ExVat, but do charge postage extra (£6).

https://www.chards.co.uk/2022-greyhound-10-ounce-queens-beasts-silver-coin/13301

Chards also show main price including VAT, with VAT exclusive price also shown, to make comparison quicker and easier.

But, glad you got sorted!

Royal Mint 2017 Silver Proof Collection

Mintage - 609.

I'm not entirely sure how I ended up collecting these sets, but at least they aren't as mindnumbingly boring as silver Maples or Phillies et al.

I prefer the wooden "Premium Proof" boxes for storage as opposed to the original shiny black boxes.  As yet I haven't landed the 2017 for this collection. Let me know if you know of one for sale.

My second set of such photos - down to about 10 minutes "arrangement" time now @TheShinyStuff. Donning and removing the gloves is a bit of a pisser.

This has got to be one of if not the best annual sets.   The Newton 50p is sublime and the Jane Austen £2 is on another level.

Thanks. There's not much on it at all. I believe they are medals which were primarily created to celebrate the 3 year anniversary of the National Redemption Council which was the military government in place at the time. Like stamps, coins were also used to communicate to the population so they used the opportunity to bring awareness around the initiative Operation Feed Yourself in which its aim was to encourage growth in agriculture across the various regions. I only discovered they existed on this website here which has acted as a guide for the coins I should be on the look out for (from 1958 - 1977 only) and is the only coin that hasn't got mintage figures. Not sure how the coins were distributed but there is was a standard copper nickel one produced (still quite rare, there was one on eBay in America but they wouldn't send it to the UK and its sold now ☹️) so I assume that the gold and silver ones were given high profile dignitaries or something.

Yeah, I've seen that site you sent and you could be right, the gold is most definitely the same one! The silver one isn't but looking at the markings I think I've actually found it here. Do you collect these types of coins?
