Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

It was the dealer's or UPS's mistake?

I really hope this unpleasant situation to be sorted quick.

Thank you Stefan, I too hope it will get sorted  soon .

Impossible to say at this point.

Already had 2 deliveries from this dealer (german, not present on TSF) this month, all good, now .....

Wow.. they only missed the target by 800 miles.

Sincerely hope they sort this ASAP.

Thank you James.

They have a 4.9 out of 5 score on trustpilot, and a 4.95 out of 5 score on trustedshops from 4,863 verified reviews in the last 12 months. I'm sure that they will due their best to resolve the situation.

The George VI 1952 Proof Sets from South Africa are immeasurably more affordable to collectors than the George VI 1937 Proof Sets from the United Kingdom. While they may not tick the same boxes, they're still a great way, and the only alternative, to acquire gold coins with the classic effigy of George VI on them without giving arms and legs for 1937 issues. I have a full set of South Africa 1952 proof coins available here: https://worldgold.co.uk/shop-1/ols/products/xn---south-africa-proof-set-1952--george-vi-t77xg7080l83a

Ooh fab, thanks for that Duncan. I've put in some bids on London Coins auction for G6 double sovs. Full set is a bit overkill for me as I'm just after sovs, but it is a great way of filling a gap and I think they look great too. Also got some connections with SA having lived in Malawi a while ago.

Today I received a well priced and uniquely packaged 14toz+ of silvery coloured metals courtesy of @stefffana TY mate. Contents included BYB barter tokens a couple of mini skulls a silver shield round a St Helena round and a beautifully/not so beautifully crafted ornate crucifix. This lot was sold for melt but on reflection will only be melting one of the items, can you guess which item?

You are likely melting the cross, well you will try...but likely end up going to hell in a handcart.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

I'd say the cross but it won't melt, it'll just glow and you'll melt instead. Be warned !!!

Then there is a small amount of numismatics. If you zoom in and look very, very carefully, you might just be able to discern a small amount of wear to some of the surfaces. 😄. Incredible that totally blank coins were used as circulating currency.
I can't tell what some of them are/were.

Today was a good day, so good in fact I'll to spread the photos over a few days!

First the gold bits, the bracelets are 9ct, as is the mount on the half-sov. Advice appreciated on what to do with that, get the mount removed and keep it, or leave it and perhaps sell as jewellery?

My mum has a sovereign with that exact mount, which will pass down to me in hopefully many, many years from now. I've considered if I would remove the mount, but since it's been used as jewellery with a chain, it's been polished, so I may as well keep it on the mount. I wouldn't have parted with it either way

A very weighty arrival from  @BackyardBullion and, oh my, what a package!

Just over 2kg of poured, hammered, mallmarked silver posh paperweight deliciousness.

A cube and a cylinder to complete my 2022 Jubilee hallmark geometry collection.

Let's hope nobody mentions the other 3 Platonic solids, or the 13 Archimedean solids, or the 92 Johnson solids, or .... 🥴
