  1. I don't think so either, proofs at least but it has been a while since the last bullion release and it just makes me wonder... Could just be they are waiting in the hope spot goes down and they can save us all a bit of money, they are nice that way
  2. I hope so however that is for the 2nd coin and it says not available, we are on the 4th proof and as far as I remember the 1st proof and bullion released together

3 grand for a bullion coin is big money but if there's a modern coin that would justify it then its this! A real stunner and I hope this sells for what you are asking as it would be a great market indicator....and I would feel much better about what I spent on my qb collection!
  4. I think they need to stop with the big series, they can't seem to commit to them and when's potential buyers lose faith that they will complete them we will never start them. I really fancied the 007 set so it's a real shame, I've no interest in losing my shirt buying the proofs so that's even an option. Maybe focus on 4 coin collections for now, if it catches do a part 2 like they are doing with the harry potter and star wars sets. I think if they had done gold bullion 50p versions of them it would have been a winner.
  5. With the monarchs being paused indefinitely I have notice a couple of other series seem to be awol. The 6 decades of bond is in the 90's for proof but only the 60's has been released in bullion. That's a shame as I fancied the bullion gold collection. The tudor beast dragon is long overdue, also the Panther hasn't been released. Its been discussed here before but the mint on Facebook said it wouldn't be getting released. I wonder if this is a deliberate move away from big production runs of bullion they are seeing low demand for and just sticking to brits and sovs. The bond of the 60's 1 oz gold bullion was limited to 5000, was released ages ago and has been met with silence.
  6. Over the last 4 or 5 months I've primarily been buying proofs as I felt they represented better value, they are not going up at all really so with spot where it has been I've felt it makes more sense.
  7. Ahh it's already been said....
  8. That's 2 grand cleared for a single brit from the mint
  9. BBP saying 1900 has been broken....
  10. Royal mint site is a whisker off 2 grand for a single brittania and 475 a soverign. Psychologicaly for me seeing 2 grand an ounce breached there will be quite something.
  11. Absolutely, it's a long term asset you stack up over a lifetime or for a rainy day. I cringe when I see 'buy the dip' and 'wish it would drop more so I can buy', we're not day traders moving tons and getting rich on small percentages, well maybe one or two exceptions. That said if gold keeps going like this and the general public catch on I fear forums like this will be over run with speculators and this will look like a crypto forum.
  12. I never imagined the gold price thread would end up with Irish drinking songs that are probably about pirates but why not?
  13. Yes, but then again they did sell really quickly which in the current market is almost a premium in itself. I remember a few months ago seeing the set of 11 for sale at 19 grand on Atkinson and thinking that's a lot these ones at 19800 for 11 selling in an hour is quite a result in its own way. I do wonder if the seller could have pushed the price a little higher.

Yeah, I'm a big nganou fan from mma, really inspiring guy but that was a beat down. Makes you wonder what sort of lifestyle fury was living leading up to their fight.

These are a bugger to sell, I speak from experience! However I did just buy another a few weeks ago as I regretted selling mine...there's something about the centenario that's very special, it feels very heavy and satisfying plus because they are .9000 and usually patinad to buggery so you can happily handle them.
  16. I know that modern proofs are basically pf70 or bust however that's a very good price! 👍
  17. That's actually a good question, ultimately we have to assign a value to it based on what we buy it with and sell it for. I know there are hardcores here that view fiat as fake but I don't subscribe to that. Maybe I see it as if the pound fails how many dollars/yuan/euros would your savings get you? If those pounds had been stored in gold you probably haven't lost anything.
  18. Your all cheer today... It was a joke based on the fact that it's hardly a popular or sought after coin and you call yourself the mad King...appropriate for a collector of obscure curios like this. 👍
  19. If we have a crash the people that say they won't buy because it's too expensive still won't buy because the price drop will just spook them. We don't need a crash, leave the boom/bust cycles to crypto and stock speculators.
  20. Bashing the Bishop won't make me rich either but that's not going to stop me.
  21. Never thought I'd see this thread...username checks out though
  22. I'm the opposite, I have and I'm not sure what possessed me Just messing, I actually quite like these, they are a bit c**p but also a bit of a laugh. Certainly I don't regret buying the gold bullion, why not? bullion is bullion. Unless something odd happens I can't see the proofs being worth much but i do think they are quite cool and I will finish the set.
  23. Then it may go down in history as a truly unique set and I won't feel like I wasted 2 grand on the reverse proof sets?
  24. It would be ridiculous if this were cancelled and it would kill confidence in signing up for future collections. That said I always felt this collection was overambitious. Too big an investment over too long a period and good luck if you want that many graded...Criticism of the execution aside though I think this range was a great idea for the die hard collectors, real history and some great designs (some...). These were never going to be coins worth money as an investment I don't think and with so many it would be damn near impossible to get top grading on everything so I expect that limited the appeal. I maintain these should have been released as sovereign size bullion and everyone would be collecting them
