The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

I am interested what the difference is between the super thick lump and the thinner one is. Both types dated 1797.

Are they both cartwheel pennies?

Can be 1847 or 1853. Check the edge. 1847 is in latin mdcccxlvii and 1853 is mdccclii.

1853 is mdcccliii right? Missed an “I”.

Just reading up. Not seen my Latin numbers for years. That was cool!! :) Thanks 🙏

I can’t even see this on coin. Edge seems a little worn? 1/2 number not there. Are the edges on gothic crowns like that?

Yes, 1853 is with triple i. I can not tell you more about your coin, my knowledge about gothic crowns is very limited, I'm afraid. 😓

On yours it is written very clear mdcccxlvii (1847) on the top, after deus., on the lion's right side, but you must turn upside down the coin.

Google cartwheel penny/ two pence, loads around and you can compare those pictures of the ones you have. They should be quite heavy. Price varies, some auction houses sell individually, sometimes in lots, very dependant on condition. Good examples fetch a bit

I've often wondered... are the bubbly bits peel-off protection covers and it's actually quite nice and smooth underneath?

Yeah to stop the clear plastic window( housing the bar) scratching.

Once I get a better storage solution..they are getting ripped off😁
