It just made me realise that the maximum number of them you can send via Royal Mail Special Delivery is now 1 piece per package. Their maximum compensation is still £2500.

We used to send 50 Krugers per packet using Royal Mail compensation cover.

Finally, today I received my 2oz proof quartered arms gothic crown. 

This was my fifth coin from RM after four defective ones! 

This follows earlier in the week when I got my third portrait coin, perfect third time around! 

Interestingly, at the same time I received two other coins which were both returns as well and they both came back perfect as well, so maybe they have ramped up their QC in the past couple of weeks?

Good things come to those who wait I guess...

Today I received a few nice pieces of world gold, starting with this fantastic 1916 Peru Una Libra courtesy of @Leonmarsh.

This is the first of a handful of coins on their way across the ocean from Leon. I had to judge from photos to decide on this piece and I must say, his photos dont do this coin justice! In person it looks as if it could've been minted in 2016. Clean luster, only very light marking from being stacked in tubes or in bags over the decades. Wouldnt be surprised if it had spent considerable time sitting in a vault or collection undisturbed. Would easily grade on the MS spectrum, IMHO.

Mintage of approx. 500,000, same dimensions and gold content as a Sovereign.

Second piece is one of my favorite old school bullion coins, the Mexican 50 peso. Im not sure how common or popular these are in the UK or Europe. Even in North America they get almost no love. The modern Mexican Libertads are well known for their low mintages and high premiums, but these older pieces are all but forgotten.

37mm in diameter with a whopping 1.2057 ozt, these coins are absolute bricks! You know you're holding gold when you hold one.

They were minted mostly during the 1920s and early 30s, and then again towards the end of WWII. Afterwards, they minted numerous restrikes using the 1947 date mold.
