2022 Sovereign design revealed?

Recommended Posts

Ah...I see, thanks!

I was wondering what people were on about, I received my 2022s a year ago.

A new thread should've been started perhaps, this one began June 2021.

Now then, Memorial Coins. I ordered a full and a half ar the same time. The money for the full was taken straight away but the money for the half was held only, and now is back free in my account. This is common RM practice of course, but I thought they were specific that funds would be taken immediately?

Both coins say 'In progress' and awaiting dispatch.

Am I in the same club here?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

My money was taken and kept. Still in progress and not expecting that to change anytime soon.

The reality is I understand peoples frustrations with the price, the mintage figures, the wait and the potential of QC issues. Also reading how long some have been waiting for other coins etc, it’s clear the mint needs to get a grip of this because it’s getting a reputation for not delivering and to be honest, I’ve been on the end of some absolute stinking QC from RM but in their defence they’ve always tried to rectify the issues.

I would like to know why they are selling coins and taking money but having nothing to send out, It’s naturally going to frustrate people especially in the run up to Christmas. The positive is this is a historic coin and something different so I’ll put up with all of the above as I think it’s a coin worth owning.

I wonder if we can send an invoice to the Mint for interest that would have accrued on the money had it been in a bank…😂

It hasn't been worth thinking about for quite a few years now, but in this era of rising rates, it's an idea!

I’ve gone ahead and cancelled. Although I thought there’d be a ‘cancel’ option but couldn’t find one so sent an email via the contact us page. To those that have done this before, is that the right way to do it? Thanks

Might take them 16 years to refund you :P

Yes I'm totally fed up of having almost 30k of orders in for these only now, only after they have got my money they told me will be early February, but if they don't come until February there is very little runway for these to get hype or interest before the next "new coin" comes out.    Regardless if you keep or flip your coins I do both those flipping coins also drive the market for those holding them and everyone benefits even the "real collector"

By February the novelty of the new King's portrait will have worn off.  Presumably the 2023 Annual set will have been released in January - and it will be popular.  By February people will be looking forward to the Coronation releases (2023 proof sovereign, bullion, and SOTD sovereign?).  This will be an expensive time.

Happily my sovereign supplier is not wanting paying until January for the Memorial release.

Miss a lot message!!!If any of you are planning to cancel the 4 coin set please private message me first and I will give you my knees🤗serious

I would like to thank our TSF friend from Taiwan for inadvertently relieving the tension on this topic!

If I was part of the financial elite on TSF who could afford a 5 coin, 4 coin, or even a 3 coin set I could be tempted by this offer. Unfortunately I already have 2 replacement knees, as a result of too much road running in the past, including the London Marathon!

At present I am very relaxed about the Memorial issue, as I only ordered a single Sovereign, and am prepared to wait patiently for its arrival in January. No stress whatsoever - Lovely! 🙂

My 10p's worth.....and I know the market for these and being and adult who's waited  a year for coins from the mint and still waiting.   This proof sovereign could be the first special reverse that has not followed the trend of appreciating like all the other special reverse sovereigns.  Is this a  Gothic Crown moment for the proof sovereign, especially if they do another special reverse in 2023  or likely 2 proof sovereigns ?

Possibly, possibly not.

The sets have sold out, the remainder are still available but the normal amounts minted for a proof have already gone.  These maybe a slow burner right now but with everything going on this year I'm not really surprised.

For me, I'm continuing to collect the key date Sov's as long as I can afford them, I believe the mint has gouged most of the profit in these with their price increase but tbh I'll never see it (hopefully) as I view these simply as savings set aside for the next generation of cavemen.

Give it ~20 years and the ascension of King William and I suspect these will more collectable.

Looking to complete a date run of Bu Sovs and still require; 2010, 2011, 2018 & 2019

A key date sovereign sets historically have done well but will this set even be considered the main key date  set especially when there will be a coronation set next year,  just being devils advocate here, we all want to think we are buying something that will hopefully appreciate in price but we have seen the car crash of the Gothic and that was the best coin in the range imo.

Just thinking they have always done well is no guarantee of future success, I like the memorial sovereign and will hold a couple 5 coin sets however I’m sceptical of this key date set more than others I’ve bought due to the self made sabotage of the RM over producing and under delivering which looks like their business model going forward.
