Ok so how on earth did they get them so quickly... every coin I have sent to NHC takes at least 8 weeks.. there and back

he may live or work in USA ? or he's used the walk through service and paid a premium for speedier grading ?

Oooo I’ve just received my notification from Royal Mail that my sov is being delivered! Wasn’t expecting to get it before Xmas.

Well, good work to all who emailed. Looks like they’ve listened and created a simple solution.

Also, my coin looks perfect. Very happy.

I love how they've included an explanatory note!

But it makes me wonder.... what bad things could happen if you don't remove it upon delivery?!

Ow after I touched it, I heard a voice saying “this card will self destruct in 5 seconds” and true to its word, it took out half my kitchen!

Seriously though, I have no idea, I can’t see it causing any damage.

Maybe it's just to stop existing owners asking for their free foam to be sent to them!

Sigh, finally got my full sov from RM - no foam padding and you guessed it, cap had popped open in transit. Gutted. 😞

Any/much noticable damage?

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Sadly it's nowhere near a 70 anymore, that's for sure 😬

Credit to RM, the customer services rep apologised and advised to send it back. So, there's still hope. 🤞

I was hoping the RM would go back to screw type capsules rather than going for a pound shop fix.

Interesting, not as much of a premium as perhaps expected.

Does it seem like these have been neglected due to wallet fatigue between this and the gothic crown (which isn't really setting the Heather on fire either)?

Is it that these are perhaps not as popular as expected?

Maybe collectors only really want the double and the five pound coin as they are the rarest?

Or maybe just everyone is more focused on Xmas and the hopeful quick flippers have been getting burned, can't afford to hold and are actually driving prices down?

I think a bit of a mix with the first point and the latter to be honest. Give them time and these will do very well imo.

It's good they'll replace it but the back and forwards from Aust to UK and snails pace of Royal Mail...what a PITA dealing with RM can be.

Hope this pack it properly this time.

 Word of warning

So I got pissed off waiting for my return...honestly the whole experience has just soured the whole thing for me and started reaching out to see if anybody wanted my 5 coin set.

I called the mint today to see how long it would be for my replacement to arrive and was told that it has been refunded and the money was in my mint account! Now I filled in the return form saying I wanted a replacement, when I spoke to them a few weeks ago I again confirmed I wanted a replacement, I even got the email to say my replacement was delayed...what the hell is going on at the Mint?

Between this and my experience with the phantom gold gothic crown I'm totally pissed off with them. Customer services are lovely people on the phone but it does seem that they are actually pretty useless at their job.

So yeah, now I have to wait and see if they **** up sending money to my bank account 🙄

At the end of the day I no longer really wanted the coins so **** it but if you are promised a replacement just remember that promise means absolutely nothing.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had issues too.

This is the reason why I’ve decided not to return mine and instead I’m going to grade it in the New Year with conservation.

I just don’t trust that I’ll get a replacement even though I’ve been promised one.

Can someone tell me what conservation of a newly struck proof sovereign is likely to achieve?

I guess remove any dust specks or micro debris. The quarter sovereign in my 3 coin set had a tiny thread that was on the inside of the capsule so foreign muck can get into the caps at the packing stage. Also left over residue removal from being struck or polished.
