Doug provided a tweaked version of the obverse:

The details in Victorian era coins are amazing. I'm often amazed at how a talented artist can pull detail and dimension out of a small essentially two dimensional medium.

No need to be excessively humble - that's not just a stack but a beautiful collection! What year are those Hungarian 10 (20?) koronas if I may ask?

They are 10 koronas, 1894 / 1904 / 1905 / 1910 / 1911.

Was planing to do a date run, but after i found out there are, i think 2 dates very rare and crazy expansive i canceled that idea. 🙂

Thanks, 10 koronas are really nice coins for a date run, although maybe a bit too small for me, I prefer a bit larger diameters :)

By the way, in my experience, their date runs are nowadays usually assembled without those rarest years 1895 and 1915 or those years are substituted by restrikes/replicas. The remaining 22 years can still be obtained, although several rarer years are more difficult to find in better grades - but that's part of the beauty of collecting a date run - it should never be too easy! :)

Over Xmas there was the most awful Geo-Political thread in the gold section which has now literally 'disappeared' (thankfully). I was going to put this photo on as a 'commercial' between the arguments, to remind ourselves why we are here.

Anyway from Mr Britannia himself I give you Silver, Gold and Platinum! and Merry Christmas.

Merry X-mass ! ( nice trio 😀 )

So thought would show this coin.
Anyone know what is? Date? Period? Queen?

At moment my best educate thought is it’s a shilling with Queen. It’s pretty legible, I just can’t pick it. I though queen Elizabeth 1st? 1500’s? But have seen Elizabeth shillings and can read it, can’t this one. Something 12th … left side of date I suspect is scrubbed

Thoughts?

I know right… but it’s taken me 2 hours and I am stuck on deciphering this coin… specially what the rest of writing means and date (in Latin).

Edward 6th. 12 pence Shilling. ?!??

I’m not that educated in these coins but it definitely looks like the one you’ve found on that page.

did you buy the coin or find it metal detecting?

See the quick link “what I received today” I list a Horde of coins. Have a friend that has asked me to find out about them/price etc. I think based on this effort I may just give them a price! 😂
