Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

I seldom post on this thread, in fact - only one post so far - but i felt it was time to make it 2 posts.

A massive thank you to @arphethean for a great trade-in deal to enable me to own this beauty... 🥰

My first 1oz Gold Bullion coin 😁 🥳 🎉 - keep looking at it like it's all dream and it'll vanish!

You were all right - they are amazing in hand, so much nicer than any picture - especially with my dodgy photo skills 🤭

Never thought in a month of Sundays would I be able to make a post like this, but with the help of quite a few members on the Forum (especially Mr Hoover himself - @James32 for the encouragement to go for this lovely coin & @Paul for convincing me even a 'normal' geezer like me can do it!).  I've bought wisely, sold occasionally and finally traded my way to a 1oz Gold Britannia - Thank you all, it's much appreciated 👍

Bob

Congratz on your first 1oz.  And nice photos too!

I know they are not always so popular, but I like brits.  They are super shiny and have a great bling factor.  Of the three ounces I have so far, a Krug and a Buff being the others, I still really like the brit. (I might get thrown out of the Buffalo club for saying that.)

I want an Eagle and a Roo next.  Big lumps of cash though.  Sovs are easier on the wallet.

Thanks & Thanks! Nothing special camera wise, Sony RX100 mk1 picked up from a local camera stores Used section for just over £100 ☺️ not really cutting edge, but a nice, easily portable camera. And I bounce a light off the ceiling for Teams calls video, and it seems to work well for coins on the desk too 🙂

Was a simple decision for me, I wanted a 1oz coin, and these were available and Arpethean was open to a trade 👍

It's not what you've got, it's how you use it. 😉

Lighting is the trickiest.  I have a fairly pro set of kit, although slightly old these days, and have been experimenting with lighting.  I've also been bouncing flash off the ceiling.

Actually saw first 1oz Britannia and some 2.5g carded Baird gold bars in a local shop. Baird not a bad price but Britannia was £1700!
