Today I received a beautiful jubilee sovereign from @Solachesis . At first i thought it was a proposal and for an instant I considered the short term pain against the long term gain of half his stack, but on opening the box there it was, my own bit of gold for a price I was happy to pay.

İt's a surprisingly good conditioned jubilee, compared to the rest I've had!

I won the 1/2 and 1/4.

I don't think I actually bid against you.  Most of my wins were uncontested.

Yeah I didn't bid on the bigger boys, but at least you know where the smaller one is if you want to complete the set 😆

Today received a few tubes of coins but one tube out the box the stamping at the neck area is marked .

Each coin has the same stamping but next coin this mark drops down slightly etc till it fades out to the base of the neck line.

Crud on the die maybe?

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

And, to think, in 1817 the Royal Mint was famous for its legendary quality control.

I don't know who got the 1oz.  If I remember, bidding quickly jumped up beyond my budget for that one.

Interesting how certain sizes of the same coin have very different popularities.  Full sovereigns and 1ozs seem to be more desired than the others in those sets.  I don't mind, because I really like double sovereigns and half ounces - they are a really nice size.
