 A magnificent seven!

The Magnificent Seven is a popular marketing theme, although these would be more magnificent in one ounce versions.

This recent photo is of a "set" marketed in 2014 by one of the coin marketing companies.

In the foreground of the photograph above is my 1817 Sovereign.  Not sure which compliments what?  The Set complimenting the 1817 or the 1817 complimenting the Set?

Now that is a nice little collection, something to aim toward thanks for showing.

Recently purchased a 2007 proof full sovereign off @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer and read the description of the changes to the reverse, which makes it another unique sovereign. (2008 they made further changes).

Thought it would be interesting to offer the comparison they made between the 2000 and 2007 visually.

Wow! Amazing attention to detail from Chards in logging only the obvious differences. Pretty damning summary of the engraving too.

Yesterday I wasted 2 hours making 2 round trips to pickup and drop back off my QBs from storage.  Up until a few weeks ago I thought my QB collection was complete until they decided to release a completer coin.  I picked one up as well as a compass cutter.  I have a box specifically for the QBs and it only allowed for 10 coins so I was going to cut a new hole for the completer.  I get home all ready to start work and then find out there isn't room in the middle.  If I was to put it in I would have to have it off centre and that would look odd.  Decided to cut 2 holes to make it symmetrical and will have 2 completers in there.  And now I've just noticed that I've put the 1/4 Yale and Falcon back into the wrong slots.  I'll have to remember to fix that when I drop off the other completer.

I’m waiting for this rare 1889 Melbourne mint Jubilee sovereign to arrive early this week.

Graded AU53 by PCGS and rated R3 by Marsh with a relatively small mintage of just 54,652 being the 1st Variety. It is also just one of 15 graded by PCGS.

Nice find foster! Down the rabbit hole now trying to find the others!

Thanks for sharing this. I’ll have a look.

This is my first Jubilee sovereign, I usually stick with young head, Shield reverse Sovereigns and George V branch mint Sovereigns.

I think I went big on my first Jubilee sovereign.

Came across this invoice and thought it was worth sharing.

20 Gillick head sovereigns and a 1oz Krugerrand for a total of £591.49. I'm guessing 1 sovereign was £25 x 20 = £500, leaving the 1oz Krugerrand at £91.49. Those were the days.....

I looked on The Bank of England website and this is with inflation taken into account. Very interesting.

It's good to know gold has beaten inflation since 1974. I tried to find a comparison for interest earned in a Bank Account over the same period but couldn't find anything, though I suspect gold would beaten bank interest too.

Nice! Where did you get that box mate! And what do you call that tool that you used to cut the holes. :)
