1989 Double Sovereign

Finally snapped one up at a reasonable price.  Certainly one of the most attractive designs ever put on a sovereign, or any coin for that matter.  Amazing that they weren't even particularly popular at the time.

And I bet people will be saying the same thing about the Memorial Sovereign in years to come.

Some bits from the EIC including W Wyons George and the Dragon. The EICs version of the gothic coin is just as stunning as the RMint. Not sure about the obverse though (marks on capsule not coin)

How beautiful the 1888 coin is. But so is the Una and the Lion coin. Do you know if this is a "Stempelbruch" at the Queen's ear? Or is it a piercing 😅
