Looking at yesterday's financial news, USA 30-year bond auction was very weak. No sane person wants to buy their debt and lock in today's rates for 30 years. Ends up being dumped on the primary dealers (read: JP Morgan, Bank of America, Goldman, etc). Those who were dreaming of rate cuts are going to be sorely disappointed. Bank of England won't dare to move before the Federal Reserve otherwise Sterling would drop like a rock.

U.S.A. has ruined its own reserve currency with massive $34.6 trillion debt, $2.5T+ annual budget deficits, weaponizing SWIFT and sanctions are far as eye can see. Non-Western central banks are buying hand over fist. China's allowing its U.S. bonds to mature and roll off without re-buying. Money needs to go somewhere. Spot on bullion sov @ £448. 1/4oz @ 476.

Sterling is total toilet paper. Dropping like a rock along with the Euro.

Holding gold is basically to protect against the truly dreadful state of sterling. They keep pushing for interest rate cuts here and it feels like the pound will tank like a rock if they do it well before the Federal Reserve. The Americans are lucky (for now) holding the reserve currency held by 60% of the planet. We don't have that luxury here.

Spot gold is up and sterling is down. If the markets sniff any sense of a rate cut here, they are going to take sterling to the woodshed and beat the c**p out of it. Who knows, maybe we'll see $1.20 per pound again.
