2022 Sovereign design revealed?

Recommended Posts

It's has started annoying me today. I was just happy to get 3 coins with no issues yesterday.

But really, we pay such a big premium on these royal mint products now, we are paying for the boxes too.

With the wooden inserts you could also pull out the insert to display at 45% degrees or whatever?

I mean considering the price they charge for essentially the box, in these bullion from the world sets etc. Surely they can at least get the boxes right?

Wow, reading about all your problems with coins quality, boxes, refunds, sending them back etc i think i'll cancel my order and ask for refund before they will dispatch it. It's too much hassle for me. I've been stacking some modest amount of gold and silver for last 2 years and i wanted to try proof coins for some long term investment but i think i'll pass on that one.

I am really upset at the 3 coin sets, I received my batch for customers with these tacky rubber inserts instead of the nice wooden ones we normally see. I note on the RM website they actually hid the boxes and didn't show them when selling.

Its a real shame I cannot do this for all of our customers as I don't have enough spare wooden inserts, but this is what the set should look like :

got mine from BPP today and am in two minds about it.  i agree the wood does look far nicer and there are no stray black hairs from the "felt"  but there are no fingerprints to wipe off everytime its moved to a display position.

The bigger irony, IMO at least, is the singles, halves -  and even quarter proofs, these all come/came in 'proper' boxes with the standard wooden inserts

- this implies RM knew of this issue but said nothing - which is particularly bad form - even by their questionable standards.

Arrived today. Finally. Been such a long wait. Quality wise I think every coin has at least one dot on them somewhere. Missing frosting so wouldn't affect the grade.

Not going for an exchange as I am guessing it would be a never ending battle to get 2 full sets with no missing frosting.

Got my 3 coin set and as usual there are issues. Marks on both the half ounce and quarter ounce. I also agree with @Allgoldcoins  I think the coin inserts are a step down in quality. I think if my latest Tudor beasts also turn up with issues I'm just going to give up on proofs from RM - love the designs but the QC is beyond a joke.

Funnily enough, I also had a wonky quarter sovereign that I had to adjust. Whoever it was putting those in that day obviously had too much to drink the night before as mine was #555.

I just gone through 10, 3 coin sets and every one has its qtr sov out of position, terrible!
