Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Not much been happening recently due to the postal strike. Had been waiting on 2 forum purchases arriving for 2 weeks, finally arrived this morning.

First was a Utah Goldback from @CookieMonster, always thought they they looked pretty neat, and they do! 20221217_174149.thumb.jpg.092f8f10e1d76c6c4b278b91061ba112.jpg

Second delivery was from a top member that we all know, I have dealt with him a few times. When posted this contained a 2000 & 2001 Silver Britannia. However it arrived opened and empty.

Posted 1st class signed for, but just stuck through my letterbox a fortnight later, obviously opened and obviously emptied of its contents.

This is the first time I have been victim of this sort of theft from Royal Mail, and although it wasn't a huge amount of money I'm still livid.

The most annoying thing is that nothing will be done and nobody cares. This is level of postal service that is accepted now.

It is, but to be fair the thing that is annoying me most is that those coins were 2 of the 3 holes left in my Silver Brit date run! If it was just a random couple of ounces it wouldn't be as much of a b@llache!

First class is insured to £50 I believe ( as long as bullion wasn't mentioned)

I know that won't make you whole again, but my point is, that it should be enough of a claim to trigger an investigation by the RM. They will easily know who had that route on the day, but I fear it won't amount to anything.

I know about the £50, but genuinely think it will take forever and lead to nothing. Do you know if the sender or the receiver needs to raise it?

It’s gutting…….a tip for people where possible stop the blindingly obvious coin in capsule “rattle” if it’s bullion just post the coins in flips and send the capsule within the packaging.

Was it obvious that the letter had been opened by postal workers? I'd be kicking off like mad if so. Or was it just the letter/packet coming open through the packaging failing?

Buy high. Sell low.

I ALWAYS claim, no matter how small the amount. For me it's the principle, a basic 2nd Class stamp should guarantee delivery, like it once did.
When they fail, they need to be called out. Claim, claim, claim, it's easy to do, they respond pretty quickly and have paid up for me every time.

Its a 67 so a nice grade, its already 2 points higher than the next closest. It could probably be a + or ☆ for eye appeal though.

Outstanding photography too, capturing all the detail! Spectacular.
