The Mary coin is a Mary I Groat of her Sole Reign 1553- 54.  Also known as Mary Tudor or 'Bloody Mary' by her protestant opponents.   Her rule continued following her marriage to Phillip II of Spain, her Consort, between 1554 until her death in 1558 under the reign of Phillip & Mary.

Received the 2 OZ Alderney QEII Una & Lion silver matte proof coin with a tiny mintage of 100 coins. I like it raw even more, than my pregraded PF70 silver proof one. What a fantastic design by Jody Clark.

Thank you to @BackyardBullion for getting these Maples out to me so fast, and in possibly the neatest wrapped box I've ever had a bullion delivery in. 4 are now wearing capsules for their delivery to relatives as Xmas presents, 2 are for the tube of random 1oz coins I'm slowly filling.

Two more fantastic additions to my growing predecimal coin collection arrived today. 

Victoria 1849 "Godless" florin from 1849. A highly controversial coin in its time due to the omission of the otherwise omnipresent "dei gratia" or d.g. The design hence lasted only one year. 

I don't know if I'll ever be able to afford a gothic crown so a gothic florin will have to hold its seat

 

 

And my first proof predecimal coin, a 1902 halfcrown with beautiful colourful tones. 

Always an underwhelming portrait imo but the detail on the proof does bring out its quality.

First lunar rabbits of the year (1/4oz gold and 1oz PL still 3 weeks away, first time I had to source from multiple PM dealers, just crazy)

A couple of things - a little macro lens for my phone, and a 1963 Gillick sovereign.  Diddling the curves a little in Photoshop brings up the detail nicely and takes off the worst of the glare.  The obverse looks nice in person - I guess this might grade EF or maybe AU.  The pics themselves are quite high res - click on them to see detail
Obverse is in good nick with nice lustre but a few scratches visible at magnification.	Reverse has a few dings that make the horse look like it's taking a shίt.
