Chards work out cheaper than Atkinsons for 25 even when taking postage into account. (This is for 2021 sovereigns).

The problem is that a vast amount of upland UK land is only suitable for sheep farming. If it wasn't grazed much of it would soon become overgrown and revert to wasteland. Sheep are not very productive, only producing on average 1.75 lambs per ewe. As Clarkson says, the amount of input in labour, veterinary bills, winter feed etc makes sheep farming here a very low profit business.
Horrible, smelly things that just want to cost you money or die anyway they possibly can.
The only thing I took away from farming sheep is don't!

Amazon van got stolen in the village next to me today and parked up on my land to transfer the parcels to another vehicle. They were disturbed by a DPD van delivering to me and hurried away with their back door open spreading parcels over the field and down the Lane. (Called it in and they were caught the next village over). Anyway 4 of them held the Amazon driver at knifepoint for his keys and this could of been any courier. All parcels are now tagged as evidence and obviously won’t be delivered. I wouldn’t and don’t post/courier anything without the correct insurance and today was one of many reasons why.

I so want to put one of the RM recycled silver pennies through one of those presses. Don’t collect but used to have one of the presses. I believe some of them fetch a good price?

I presume you have seen what we did when we got an unexpected result on a Krugerrand a few years ago?
Where would we see that?

For me i would get a sovereign or a gold coin on the date of your mates birth year
Gold is timeless, silver is silver
Or this year if the wedding is this year and frame it with their names and the wedding date (important). Trust me, you mate will thank you every year 😉

I have 3 sovereigns on back order from Chards. I bought them at a price I was very happy with. It very clearly stated they were not in stock and there was no estimated delivery date. I was happy with the contract and parted with my money. I have been informed 1 is now in stock and given an estimated date for the other 2.
I don’t get what all the fuss is about?
The contract is clear and they have been very good with their communication.
In fact I’m really confused. If you don’t like the terms of the sale just don’t click the buy button! 😳
what other company gives you first dibs on a coin or grade of coin via internet, and let’s you pay for it there and then at that days price whilst not knowing what it may cost them. That’s a hell of a service for me as a stacker.

Well that was very helpful I appreciate your sarcasm, I can't stop laughing, I have peed my pants, I should go to the bathroom but this patronising pile of excrement is just too funny, I know what I will play it again, I cannot resist..
My apologies Hooper if you took offence, it was nothing personal as with questions like "In general are bars better than coins for weight?, How do I know that I have not bought a pile of chocolate coins? and Do silver bullets kill vampires?" I thought this whole thread was a spoof.
I now realise you were actually being serious!
In general are bars better than coins for weight? If they are the same material and the same size they weigh the same so I'd say neither are better or worse. It's a personal preference.
Should I start slow or blow my load straight away? As others have said if you are new to precious metals slow is probably best until you know something about them.
How do I know that I have not bought a pile of chocolate coins? Heat test and taste test.
What is the best delivery method? Face to face. If not possible the most secure and insured method the seller is willing to post by.
How do I pay people on this forum? Very much up to the individual you want to pay. I've seen BACS, PayPal, Cash, Bitcoin to name a few common ones.
What is the best way to know if the seller has a good reputation? Know the seller. If you have not brought from a particular seller before then look at his feedback from other buyers.
What is the best postage option? The most secure and insured method the seller is willing to post by which mostly depends on the location of the seller. In the UK, Royal Mail special delivery is the only one that insures bullion as a matter of course.
Do silver bullets kill vampires? I have no idea, have never met a vampire to try.

Wow, what a collection! I remember buying a RARDEN round from the tank museum shop several years ago (probably for the same price as a 1oz silver maple to keep things topical) but I have no idea what type it is, let alone how many different ones there were!
Is that a Peak Engineering turret on the FV432?
It most certainly is 😃 👍🏻

I am sure ebay don't care, they make profit out of them, and it would cost resources to police their listings, unless someone complains, but even then, they still don't care. I suspect most ebay sellers with fakes know that they are selling are fakes.
Fakes are definitely worth studying, especially if you don't want to end up owning any you paid a genuine price for.
This old (2009) page mentions Ken Peters of The Counterfeit Coin Club:
https://24carat.co.uk/frame.php?url=fakepoundcoins.html
Although I do not know if he / they are still around.
In that sense, many people do have a collection of fake coins.
The thefakepoundcoindatabase does list other coins on its database. At least I think so from seeing a 7 sided Flopsy Bunny on its front page. 😎
Even though the RM lost its "sovereign" legal case, it does not mean that just anyone can make a sovereign without some legitimate cover, without risking prosecution for forgery or fraud. If it looked like a genuine UK gold sovereign, it would certainly be hard to defend.
China, and a few other countries do not care about counterfeiting or copying, indeed it is possibly state sponsored or even subsidised.
I stand corrected Lawrence 🙂
The sovereign is protected under the The Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981 as it has been specified in an Order by the Treasury.
