Received from @shawy2510,thank you. Another 2005 Sov to add to the collection. Aiming to get to ten over the next 18 months so plenty of time yet and an interesting little diversion to keep up.

I've ordered the the 5oz Portrait from LPM in Hong Kong. Despatch due on the 31st March. Anyone like to make a bet as to which 5oz Portrait will turn up first UK or HK 😀😀😀.... Not acceptable from the RM for those still waiting for the Quartered.

Don't know how my last post got linked to @Stu but it came from me.

NO - I bought from a dealer - Absolutely a dealer - you would all KNOW them- (but the coin was secondary to them) then misrepresented as primary direct from royal Int (but only verbally)!
They told me the coin had come directly from the Royal Mint.... That was not true
They advertised them selves as a Trusted Partner of the Royal Mint.. That was also not True
They stated coins were supplied to them by the Royal Mint... That was also NOT True
(they stated this on their website and had done for sveral tears (I went wayback to check)
All those claims have gone after a conversation this morning
This all came about because the Royal Mint decided to just sell Portrait Gothic Crowns only to the Original purchasers..
I had bought a plain edge one form a dealer and had been guaranteed the second (on launch day)
I had just missed out on a 2 oz milled edge coin on RM website at 9:00 am.
I went to the dealer I TRUSTED -I had bought 25k + bullion in the last 2 months from them, Saw they had the milled edge coin for sale, then my Account Manager at the dealer said, I could get you a plain edge, VIP customers only, not sold to public guaranteed Portarit as well. I assumed the price quoted was RRP (why would I not!) and thought the Mint has just passed any spare coins of this limited mintage not taken up by VIPs- to Trusted Partners - to offer to customers.
I much later had found out here, that I had in fact paid multiple times RRP. (Not Ebay multiples, I might add)
How so from a RM Trusted partner at launch - Cartier would not allow that, nor Rolex? A primary sale to a customer would be RRP - (special customer might get chosen, but it would be at RRP)
When I approached the RM when the Portrait was due to ask about all this, and I wanted it RRP as I was the original, non trade owner and said I bought this from a Trusted RM partner, how do I get my Portrait..
RM told me we do NOT allocate them to dealers, we will sell our coins to the original purchaser.. And that this delaer had never been supplied
My mistake for getting the plain edge confused with the milled.Apologies. Surely common sense would dictate though if you are paying a big premium over the over the price of the milled, which I assume you knew the price of then would that not set alarm bells ringing. As a member on the forum there have been plenty of posts on the subject to research.

Same as the milled as far as I'm aware but only to certain collectors as it was never on general release. Happy to be corrected 😊

RRP.... RECOMMENDED retail price. In all my years of buying coins I've never seen a RRP on anything. You pay your money and take your choice, after doing your research...

Should seebthe hummingbirds here...found a hummingbird egg shell once..amazing.
That must have been a good spot... the humming birds over here are tiny, I should imagine they can't be too much bigger over there. As logic dictates the eggs must be pretty small as well.

The farthing has to be one of the best pre decimal coins ever used in change in the 1900s.
Not even sure how much you could buy back in the day with it. The Wren is one of the UK's smallest birds, so I believe, weighing only about 10g. Tiny....

Well dipping my toe into uncharted waters and well out of my comfort zone is a 1937 Proof Specimen Set. I was lucky to find this pretty much unmolested set in a local antique dealer and after a bit of help and advice from @richatthecroft (Thanks Rich) I took the plunge.
My rubbish photography and no natural light don't really show how nice this really is overall.Toning is minimal on the siver coins and just is a really nice set you don't come across very often and I was lucky to find.

The Lunar II Mouse has a final mintage of 5821, german dealers paying around 300/325€ and sell for around 600€. No clue, what you get in secondary market
Wow, that's good to know. I had a feeling it could be a bit of a hidden gem and took a gamble on it. Luckily it's in A1 condition with the original capsule so will keep hold for a while and try and find out some more sales history. Thank you for your answer @dikefalos

Another delivery today 😀. 3 x 1/10th Perth Mint beasties and surprisingly all with original capsules. Bought from a small auction house. I never see the 2005 so grabbed those for my collection but the mouse intrigues me because apparently it is fairly rare and hard to come by. I can find no previous sales on Ebay and there doesn't seem to be too much info out there. If anyone can help on the mouse with details or value then that would be great.

Anyone that has been lucky enough to get the 5 oz will not be disappointed. Mine has just turned up and is just awesome. Pictures in Today I Received. The extra size and weight really bring home the design and I would say easily comparable to the Una. Well done RM 😀😀😀

With eyes diverted toward the Gothic and 2022 Sovereign releases, Rich goes old- school, snipes around the defense and…Goal……!!!! Hits the net with a 2002 Sovereign Set 😃
I’m still on the hunt for a 2012 5 Pound Sovereign, so in the meantime the 2 Sovereign down will have to suffice.
Which of the six special Reverse big boys is your favourite?
2005 for me but as you know I am slightly biased 😀😀😀

Use a Dremel with a cutting disc... you can cut along the edge which will stop any change of damage to the coin
Absolutely agree, as a one off I didn't want the extra expense of the Dremmel, if doing on a regular basis I would much prefer the surgeons knife (Dremmel) to my caveman approach lol...

Nice job..... Those things spoil the appearance of a perfectly good coin IMO. Any reason why you took it out though just out of curiosity?
It's a bit strange, but a relative wanted some Sov's in fancy boxes as gifts. This one was the only one available but in a slab. Broke it out and into a capsule so it matched the others and everyone then gets the same presentation.

"2 out of 3 ain't bad" as the late great Meat Loaf once said. Most pleasing to me is the 2005 gold Eagle. Bullion coins can be used and abused so really happy to get that result especially as it was bought as a plain bullion buy on the forum. Two are definitely keeper's, the third I'm not sure.
No complaints though overall 👍👍👍
Many thanks to Lousie at @CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions for the super smooth grading service.
