I got excited then, then i realised I dont have £41k ;)

Thats a good deal mind.

I might be wrong but I think we could see under £300 SOV's if the dollar & markets stay strong.
Im still gonna average down like last time, when it hits £305-£310

with a typical 1kg gold bar measuring just a small 80mm x 40mm x 18mm, i think my preference would be to have 130 gold sovereigns costing the same price. maybe looking slightly more impressive too.

Yea trying to sell that on would be a pain plus the stress of storing it & going on holiday.
130 SOV's in an inflationary climate could buy lot of quality undervalued assets like boats, campers, beach huts, land you name it!! ;)

Certainly looks like it, but what puzzles me is that HMG cite a 5% premium based on £1250 per ounce, which last obtained back in April 2012. Today the premium is more like 1 1/2%. Something must be wrong here. Of course, it could be my brain.

Any ideas?

Actually two typos: the second is '2021' instead of '2012'. Must concentrate more at the back of the class.

Thank you. That makes sense, but why do HGM quote 'one ounce of fine gold' in their headline description? Seems like quite a bad case of misleading the customer. I now see that the fine print does give the accurate weight of fine gold.

I’m thinking the same. I only glanced at the description too

I think that this is a bad case of a false piece of advertising if two of us were misled. Ought to be reported to Trading Standards,  but who can be bothered?

I shall avoid HGM in the future.

Nobody! They've been listing the $20 as one ounce for years.

It's more of a generalisation I think, rather than false advertising, but they should correct it.

'....nearly an ounce of fine gold' perhaps?

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

the customer service at HGM is quite good, although I was very disappointed in their 'Best Value Sovereigns'. I ordered 4, of which one had obviously been cleaned, and the other was slightly damaged.  This is compared to 10 brand new ones, when ordering the same product from BPB.

That is not encouraging news.

Bought from them in the past. But, I try and stick to the main dealers, even if t means I’ll pay a little more, least I know I’ll get a good coin. Pay quality when you’re paying for your coins! I was guilty of buying as cheap as possible in the past, but when your paying a lot of £££ anyway AND it’s a mid-long hold, does the extra quid or two matter 🙈. Gold is gold at then end, long as you’re not paying extortionate or well above the “norm value” don’t worry about the extra couple quid.

like belangp says we are conditioned to think of everything in €$£ hence our fixation about micro analysing our purchases.

Best value will also be BU/potentially cleaned with light marks.  Iv bought a lot from them in the past but nowadays they overprice some year sovs and generally are expensive

so if you picture a sovereign, and sell the coin, you might make about £10 in profit.  Should you then find someone using your picture, you name & shame them, threaten to sue and gain £5000 and another £5000 for removing their name.

why bother selling the coin in the first place? The back-catalogue of the TSF trade section/Today I received must be worth billions!

New around here ...

Who are "BPB"?  You didn't mean "BBP" (Bullion By Post) did you?

Cracking deal for a peru una libra rare desirable coin from HGM

What, 10% premium?

... and you have to calculate the premium for yourself, unlike more user friendly sites.
