Having seen that, I would not recommend Windsor Mint for anything, with the possible exception of deportation.

However, in their defence, I feel compelled to point out that their rare chance to own a 2013 sovereign is for an extreme rarity, possibly unique.

As you can see from this screenshot, it is dated 2014, making it without doubt the rarest 2013 sovereign in existence!

It is rather quirky that WM have described the coin's face value as "Sovereign", rather than £1. I would agree that its denomination should be deemed correct as a sovereign, but denomination and face value are not always one and the same thing.

I checked to see whether it was a proof or bullion version they were offering.

They describe it as "Very Fine".

This also adds to its rarity. I have never seen a 2013 sovereign in VF condition before.

I don't think so, also they didn't know it was "Backyard Bullion" that ordered...

I got lucky though, thanks @LawrenceChard

Just available in BTC? Surely that's just a punt in the price of btc?

£505 for a 1oz gold coin? That can't be real. Why would anyone sell gold for less than half the scrap value? Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Exactly. Seems like a chance to get cheap bitcoin. Wonder what the gold/bitcoin ratio is 🙂

I'm not the most experienced and apologise if I'm stating the obvious but here's my thoughts...

Have you considered the advantages to be had in smaller coins like sovereigns and other such, which may offer more flexibility than the more expensive 1oz coins if/when you wish to exit your investment?

Also, buying from the forum would offer you a choice of exact coins with pictures of their condition, instead of a 1oz coin at random.

If you wanted a dealers option and you don't mind which coin you receive, Chard's are up there with the best and having a quick scan, that's a good price.

The price of these Gillick sovereigns isn’t bad at £317.50 at the time of writing.

I might be wrong but I think we could see under £300 SOV's if the dollar & markets stay strong.
Im still gonna average down like last time, when it hits £305-£310
