The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. Charles I (1625- 1649)

Scotland, Thirty Shillings, third coinage, fourth issue 1637- 42.  mm: Thistle (Edinburgh).  Falconer’s second issue. S.5556.  14.75grams.

Obverse:  Sword wielding King Charles I on horseback. 'F' below the horse's hoof, rough ground below horse. Thistle at the start of the legend.

CAROLVS · D : G · MAG · BRITAN : FRAN : ET : HIB : REX : ‘Charles, by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland’

Reverse: Crowned royal arms. Thistle at the start of the legend.  QVÆ · DEVS : CONIVNXIT : NEMO : SEPARET

What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder’

Nice coin- Full flan, Lovely toning and I would say very nearly VF.

Amazing, so a one-and-a-half pound coin, is that right? What's it made from?

Silver, and it’s equivalent to an English Halfcrown.

A couple of resources on Scottish coinage in general and Scottish Charles I coinage, table below from the first resource:

That exchange rate is something I knew nothing about and is fascinating. Thank you

Another bargain! Must have been polished a million times, and the bronze holder is not particularly attractive, but it was quite a bit below spot for the silver content alone.

A Craven Bank cloth coin bag for the collection, this one is for 400 half sovereigns. I'm not sure of the age but the Craven Bank ceased trading in 1906

things were better in the past.  concorde, quality and handling of sovs, better public transport, no twatter, wokeness etc.     lets just forget about measles, polio, tb, smog, no indoor toilets etc :)
