Wow!  Such a lovely medal.  Truly a keeper!

EDIT: I just reread your post.  These were sold to certain military folk and not just to the general public. I would think they'd be given only to SAS operators, though.  Not sold but given because those guys have already earned it.

I have looked at these many times but yet to bite the bullet..maybe once my saye run is complete I'll treat myself 😂

The "problem" is that there are at least two large sets to complete: two 32 piece sets, one set with the shields of each state, and one set with famous landmarks from each state.  Then there are other individual coins like the Don Quixote coin that are the same size and bimetallic silver format.  I've yet to acquire most of them.

I did some math, added the risk of a virus, deducted some tears and compared it to the fear-level. Extracted the lockdown, multiplied with Brexit minus the square root of the deal. Then I took in account that gold is shiny, yellowish and heavy. Making me round it up to a nice round number:

= Gold will be £1643,87 on the first of jan 2022.

    Ratio GBP 1,00 / Euro 1,04

Nice work, except you're supposed to minus the "variance" not the square root. (Just don't do the square root and you're good)

Otherwise I mostly agree except I'm inclined to divide Gold by the Mainstream Media constant.

A day off today, so a nice little drive to Royal Wootton Bassett, to see my new friends at @BritanniaCoinCompany, the plan being to buy another sovereign.

However I timed it just right as they were reducing a load of silver flatware items, basically because they had too much stock, and it was being sold at spot + 10%. Which considering only last week I was paying more than that on eBay and thinking I had a bargain, I just had to have a rummage around and see what I could find.

First off, they reduced the price of a lovely silver double sovereign holder. (Obviously this wasn't 10% above spot, but I did get it for a major bargain). Superb condition, springs and lock work perfectly. When I got home and researched the hallmarks, it appears that it was made by HV Pithey & Co, and whilst the case was hallmarked in Chester in 1913, the date letter on the coin holding centre part had a different style letter n, indicating this part was hallmarked in London in 1908. Now the company was a London company that hallmarked in both Chester and London, and it seems when they built the case they put parts from different assays together.

The other silver piece I got was a heavy silver key commemorating the 21st birthday of Prince Charles in 1969. It weighs over 3ozt and I got it for 10% over spot, made by Turner and Simpson Ltd in Birmingham in 1969. It should shine up very nice with a bit of Goddard's.

Oh and I got a nice 1900 Queen Vic sov, which when I got home I noticed it was a Melbourne one. Happy days.

So if anyone is in the area, they've got a silver sale on, grab the bargains while you can.

How wonderful to have an actual use for a double sovereign holder!

"Yeah I'll take that shiny new Land Rover."  * pulls out double sovereign holder *

  5. I like the 2021 with Oriental border, and the Boudicca version. But really they're all quite nice. And before the sharp increase in silver I had been tempted to rebuild my old Britannia collection, wherein I had been collecting one of each design before I'd sold off the entire stack.

The time of the Lord's long-suffering may come to an end...  and who is prepared?   (no pre-trib rapture so I hope no one believes in that false doctrine).

Agreed, that doctrine has fooled many many people.

I’m a prepper so I have no worries about any event. I just don’t think it likely. Just a personal opinion of course.

I'm a prepper too but being prepared doesn't mean it won't be difficult or ugly. If society goes sideways it'll be tough on everyone, just less tough on those who are prepared.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

Yep, that's the nature of the world system we're presently stuck in. Psalm 82 says that the world powers have already been judged for their wickedness and injustice. We're just waiting for the execution on judgement day.

  7. Now I'll amaze you all with the absolute best coinage photography you've ever seen.  I call it "abstract coin art".  New York's Museum of Modern Art called me and they're interested.

So I've been slowly completing the stack/collection of Mexican Onzas/Libertads, and added a 1991, '92, '93, and '94.  A '95 is on the way. The goal is to have one from every year they've been minted. A couple of these have some tarnishing.  By contrast that the '93 has a slight smudge area but otherwise is amazing to look at. The detail and consistent satin finish is wonderful. The camera doesn't do it justice at all.  (They're all pretty nice, really)

Also added yet another 5 peso gold coin, and yet another roll of BU dimes.

(sorry guys, I simply cannot photograph coins to save my life.  I actually blame all of it on the camera, and the sun, and the room, and whatever else besides myself)

so far, how far has the dollar collapsed in this global pandemic?

    HH

Don't know, not far yet, I'm guessing. But many businesses were completely shut down, and jobs were lost, instantly. Now the gov't has literally printed trillions, and are likely to do even more.

The full consequences have yet to be seen or understood, but they were set in motion instantly.

  9. I started as the poor man stacker years ago: I'd get a few silver coins here and there as I was able, to add to the tiny collection of silver dimes and quarters I might find in change. And I mean it was the poor man's way, by buying $1 face whenever I could.

Gold wasn't even a dream. No one like that can reach high enough to pay off his debts, let alone buy gold! But a few years ago I was finally in a position to pay down most of my debt, and begin buying gold. And since then I've been building a gold stack as well a bigger silver stack.

i saw the recent belangp video where he shows there is cash sitting in a Treasury account at the Fed which would increase the currency in circulation by 40% - this will be spent - and more will be spent. When currencies, like the USD become worthless the price of gold in USD can be $100's thousands - $millions - it does not mean much b/c the USD has become worthless. The USD will become worthless. This is why we store up gold - it protects purchasing power. i believe gold is undervalued in real term and then add in the last few percent of the purchasing power of fiat disappearing and the price could easily become, well infinite, for what infinite amounts of nothing is worth.

He might be the same one I heard who said that nearly 20% of all known above-ground gold is held by central banks. There are also Bullion banks who lend based on gold and silver deposits.

So to answer another question, yeah gold really is the world's money. I mean the money of the wealthy and the elites. It's only the rabble, the commoners who use their monopoly money.

it takes time for global events to happen, lots of time.

It took a global pan/plandemic about a month to cause a radical change in the US economy. And as of today we still haven't seen or really understood what things are going to look like long term.

American coins rock. You get a much better choice of low cost circulation coins too compared to the UK, lucky!

Agreed. I am glad to have the options we have, and the overall good prices. If there was a way to extend the same options to you on the other side of the pond, how great would that be!

    I bought a 1971 Bahamas 9 coin set because I wanted the 50c, $1, $2, and $5 (all .925) for my collection however there is a problem...

The $5 is an absolute mammoth of a coin with a diameter of 45mm! (and a whopping weight of 42g! of .925 silver)

Now whilst it's great to have a coin with well over a Toz of pure silver in it, I store my coins in lighthouse flips in plastic sleeves in a folder and the largest lighthouse flips made are 39.5mm- significantly smaller than the diameter of this massive coin (a crown is 38.6mm for comparison).

The reason for posting here is that I can't think of a solution to this problem and wanted to have one in place for when the coin arrives. If anyone can help with this there is a small prize (don't get too excited) for the best solution to make the coin look in place in my folder (attached).

Currently the best I can think is to cut out a 46mm circular hole in the lighthouse flip (2"x 2") and somehow use clingfilm to create the plastic sheet 😂

If you have to have problems, those are the kind you want. 😎

So when people dont believe in gold anymore you think it goes up. And when people believe in realestate you think it will go down. Sounds about right to me. The alpha wolfs make money on the beta sheeps.

I still think it needs one more down ralley to shake the rest of the sheep off the tree. I will be getting a tow hitch installed soon so I can tow a trailer to the local coin slinger for the big fill up. Then it will moon shoot. People are just starting to feel the reality of how much this is actually gonna hurt the lower and middle class.

This all makes me wanna own a pawn shop, what a perfect time. Going to look up stocks now.

Yep if gold drops like rock then I too will be hauling loads of cash down to the local shop and buy up whatever I can.
