Different privy every year just to troll those completionists 😀

I'm still in shock that you can get the five coin set from the Royal Mint (76 still available) and Chards, how that didn't sell out in 15mins flat is difficult to comprehend!

Saying no and not playing the game VS FOMO

Sadly with 500+ year heritage and past history behind it. It's unlikely to change.

When you look at the unique designs in the past mintage especially in large sizes

Once George and dragon becomes the norm again for a decade or so

Well be thinking back "I wish I bought . . . . . . . When I had the chance " (hopefully)

arguable.

I remember when in the 80s, then in the 90s and yes, still in first decade of the new millennium no1 was litterally giving a damn to the RM delicacies. And the 500 year of heritage was already there. If you notice the mintage of the 90s sovs...few thousands.. and i can tell you no1 was waiting on the release day or was lining out of the phisical shops to get a piece of history. Things started changing in 2002-2005-2012, but then again those were just the first innocent attempts. Thing REALLY changed in 2015 and they got just worst and worst since then.

I lost count on all plain edges, SoTDs, princess Bday here, piedfort there, sapphire, wedding, "once in a life time, unique! never ever again" etc etc etc. And i m not even considering all the other gold emissions..

Traditions have to do with repetitiveness? Yes.

I pray for the sovereign to get back to the traditional (boring?) st george and the dragon, and to rely on my annual november proof sov to be bought and kept. I dont mind special reverses, of course, but, as already said, what makes them special is their infrequency

Really appreciate the input and comment.

I'm stacking bullion since 2009 now and learning the proof world since 2017

I appreciate all help and info of folk who have been through and learnt past markets and how it works

Those with 20+years experience in the market will have forgotten more than I've learnt

The two growths on the side of our head and the wisdom to appreciate we can admit we can listen and be wrong  will earn you so much more in investment, stacking, life, relationship, family, job, networks

' Wisdom is know how little we know " (way back then in Greece Socrates )

Chards sold out of the 5 coin set since you posted but still available at RM. Slow burner this one…..thank goodness. I love the fact that they are not selling out….it means the mintage in actual hands of collectors will be lower. I have zero problem with that personally….and if they do sell out, great.

I agree, the sentiment has changed…regular buyers/enthusiasts have been happy to max their cards out on modern coins but are now not so likely to do so with the economic future looking likely to head towards recession with increased energy costs and unemployment likely to rise, so cash is king…and with interest rates rising on credit…cards, mortgages etc. this will have had some impact without a doubt.

This leaves deep pockets, long term collectors, dealers and others to buy. We might be witnessing the end of the “flipping” generation for a few years possibly….which is great news for actual collectors.

I said this on the other thread a couple of days ago and it didn't go over too well,  people are struggling and these are very expensive. This was not a release for the casuals or dabblers like the memorial 50p and I still think last year's soverign success was the tail end of people taking up hobbies during lockdown.

The price and mintage were misjudged at least if they wanted a headline grabbing success.

Confidence in the future is important and right now, and especially with Xmas coming up, Christmas and the lack of confidence in the future with increasing costs of living reduce the number of folks looking to buy proof coins right now but probably not bullion…...personally, I am very pleased to have the first Charles III proof quintuplet sovereign. I came out of hiding for this one.

Regards to all the regulars and newcomers :)

It's 2017 all over again!

I wasn't going to bother with this release because I thought I had no chance securing one. Bugger me, I go on the site for a browse about an hour ago and all available, save the 4 coin set. I filled me boots.

I also said its going to hang around for awhile but others here were predicting a sell out by the time the queue finishes. Most of the excitement understandly comes from forum like this one but the wider world thinks otherwise. At the moment cash is king.

As long as there are buyers over original price flipping will continue.

People complain about queueing, complain about missing a coin/set, then complain when it appears the mint haven’t sold out! Just calm down. If you got something, we’ll done, majority have either not bothered or can’t afford the current releases. Count yourself lucky.🫢🤔😁

I was on the mint's site late morning yesterday, and the 4-sets and 5-sets were sold out.  Chards were all available.  I went back on in the afternoon, and RM were selling 5-sets again, but Chards were out.

Interesting how it goes.
