It was indeed by car.
About 1980 in a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9
It was metallic gold colour (what else), but just looked like any other boring three box saloon, so it hardly ever got a second glance from police traffic officers.
One frosty Sunday morning, starting about 7.00 a.m. via M6. I did have to slow down every time we passed the Services, as there were typically 2 police Range Rovers sitting on the exit ramps watching.
Average speed was just over 100 m.p.h.
Now, I reckon 50 m.p.h. average would be optimistic!
🙂
Imagine what you could have done in a red one!

I would be willing to pay 2% over spot for this at £670 with post included which I feel is a fair offer and better than you'll get from any dealer. It would be just as others have described - you would send first, I would pay you on delivery of the goods and provide you with glowing feedback so as to help you with your next sale. You will see from my feedback record that I have built up a reputation on the forum as a trustworthy and honest chap to deal with. Let me know if this would be of interest

Finally, today I received my 2oz proof quartered arms gothic crown.
This was my fifth coin from RM after four defective ones!
This follows earlier in the week when I got my third portrait coin, perfect third time around!
Interestingly, at the same time I received two other coins which were both returns as well and they both came back perfect as well, so maybe they have ramped up their QC in the past couple of weeks?
Good things come to those who wait I guess...

It is possible to get 925 silver at spot.
Usually flatware, cutlery etc.
I have a sale up for 925 spoons at spot.

I am on my fifth quartered arms now and still it has issues that are worse than that. Eventually I figure I'll just have to satisfy myself that it will never be perfect.

So what means the LD ? That's why I was wondering that it was a special edition or just a BU coin.
By the way, I am also a big Panda coin fan, started in 2013 but I would not mind getting some older years.
LD stands for "Large Date".
The coin on the right is the small date version from the Shanghai and the one on the left is the large date that arrived today from the Shenyang mint. Each mint had its own dies with slight differences between them. You can see the main difference in the typeface of the date.

This one looks just great, certainly for such an older coin. If you compare it against the older Kooks, this one wins big time.
Is it just the normal BU coin or a special edition ?
I think pandas, unlike most bullion coins, have generally been treated as "special edition" and looked after for the most part. Their mintages being smaller meant they were not "stacked" and stuffed into tubes like generic britannias/maples etc. I have always felt that pandas in general were and are of a higher quality than other bullion in their design, strike and presentation than bullion offerings from every other country except probably Perth mint (personal opinion).
Hence yes, while this is the standard BU version, they are IMO special!
There is a proof version of the 1998 but it is colourised

And don't get me thinking about starting a proof collection!!

A huge day!!
The 1998 Large Date panda I've been on the hunt for for many months is over!
This incredible specimen arrived from Germany this morning!
Goes well with my small date and gets me one coin closer to completing my one ounce collection
Just the elusive 1999 serif and maybe the prooflike 1989 to find now and I will have all the main varieties bullion 10 yuan silver pandas!
Thank you for the tip off @DavePanda
Call off the search @Pandao!

Interesting thread.
As someone who's recently made the transition from collector/stacker to amateur trader to dealer, I am reading with interest and hearing what people are saying wrt the trade section, which is an important extension of the community, and can see that having it flooded with posts from a small number of members at the expense of other members is not conducive to the community spirit.
I am always keen to hear feedback on my listings in the trade section, whether that be on the frequency, content, quality of offerings, pictures and price. I'll certainly be taking some advice from the comments here. I do feel it's excessive to list lots of items in individual listings so try to group items into listings to reduce the flooding.
On the topic of the sections, I do totally agree that the current split of ungraded/graded is poor, and a more logical and even split to me would be:
Silver
Gold
Other metals (platinum, palladium, copper etc etc)
The ungraded section is way too busy. It is a jumble sale. But where ungraded is jumble, graded is tumble weed.
Split it more evenly as per the above and each section will strike a better balance of busyness. Posts won't be swamped out within an hour, and sections will get visited by buyer's according to what metal they're in the market for.
Dealer sub forums I don't agree with, as they tend to be mostly ignored and under-utilised with a couple of notable exceptions

Agreed with the above.
Depends greatly on condition. A top condition example is worth upwards of 160.
If you can take higher quality pictures without top half of capsule we will be better able to narrow it down.
Take care not to touch the coin with your hands at all.
If you are interested I can help you with the sale of this. I have one in my collection so not for me!

A crowning addition to my @BackyardBullion collection
Absolutely superb piece, bought from the person who commissioned it.
This is one serious chunk of metal!
Love the element details with atomic weight, melting point etc.

Great photos. Out of curiosity where will the platinum one sit? Between palladium and gold or silver size wise? Either way, can’t wait to see that one soon.
I hope one will turn up!
Platinum is the densest of them all. It is the same diameter as the gold one but a hair thinner.
I have had those three together in the past....

I bought this HALF! sovereign today. First item in a mini sovereign collection I'm planning.
Could I ask for your opinion on its condition and value please?
