As much as you can trust what you heard from one person on a customer service line...this is what he told me.

Production of coins has stopped. It will take a undefined period of time for changes to be approved, sanctioned and then implemented.

Production of things like annual coin sets and other coins (he would not be more specific than this annoyingly) would start again in due course.

He said to me that things like the Brilliant Uncirculated annual cupro nikel sets would be made and will be available in due course.

How true will that be, hard to know. But I think people rushing out and spending £380 on a £60 issue price cupro nikel set on ebay is not a sound financial decision.

This is unprecedented and the first change of Monarch in most people’s lifetimes even at the Royal Mint. I doubt anyone has a clue what will happen next.

Just for anyone wanting them, the £30 and £60 annual coin sets are available to order on RM website and you can actually checkout and order them.

Better than paying £350+ on ebay

Does that mean I will have to take my 100 sets off FleaBay now 🙂

Quick way to find out would be to see if they're still doing any strike you owns tomorrow.

https://www.royalmint.com/the-royal-mint-experience/strike-your-own-coin/ has been updated. It implies to me that they'll still be letting people strike their own 2022 coins with the queen on from next week, so that answers a few questions on its own.

Makes sense. I doubt they’ll halt production of 2022 dated coins with QE II’s obverse. Or 2023 that they’ve already produced like the Yale of Beaufort.

It’s the 2023 dated coins that are in a bit of doubt re the obverse.

Another strike gets cancelled then 😀

It makes sense, there's no way logistically they can change all their production in a weekend to cater for a new obverse and no way they can stop producing coins for the length of time it takes to implement the bureaucracy needed to change the effigy.

Certainly, I think this is an amazing set to have, affordable - potential for profit in the future, mass market appeal.

Do Bears Sh*t in the Woods...? 😏 🤭 😉

It would be interesting to see a memorial portrait of the Queen on the reverse with the effigy of her son on the obverse.

Just bought 2 sets for £125 delivered. Well worth a punt at that price.

Crumbs, £5k being asked for the BU quintuple.  I returned my duplicate order one to the RM last Saturday and expect to receive the £2625 issue price refunded.

Funny how events change.

I am still completely happy with my decision to return it though.  I didn't order two, and I have no intention of selling the one that I am proud to own.

Just because this dealer asks for £5k doesn't mean they will get it!
