  1. I don’t believe any RM coin will be absolutely perfect (down to microscopic detail). But, these obvious imperfections are inexcusable. The RM used to have decent QC. But, with their continuous non-stop new coin after new coin, there is no time for QC other than a quick glance.
  2. Such a shame on an otherwise beautiful coin. That’s why I now prefer to get all my RM coins from a reputable dealer, who checks the coins before sending them to me. Cannot trust the RM for QC.
  3. Finally got my 2 oz. silver yesterday. Magnificent coin! I like the presentation, too. Case is great. Well worth the cost, IMO.
  4. Got my 2-coin set today. Just magnificent! The design and detail are great. There’s even a spray of bubbles coming off the waves. Nicely done. Love the side-by-side contrast of the two proof finishes.
  5. Sad indeed. I’m finding that often the dealers are the way to go. However, being in the U.S., I prefer buying from the RM whenever possible because they deduct the VAT from the cost.
  6. It’s currently reserved. It’ll probably be back to available when some of the reservations fall through.
  7. Part of the Commonwealth, I guess! i get e-mails from the RM, but not when a new coin is released.
  8. Interesting thing the RM did for its UK customers. I am in the U.S. and don’t get an e-mail when a coin is released. If I go to the RM website, it asks if I’m shopping from the U.S. if I click “yes”, it takes me to a different launch page and won’t give me access to the new release. I’ve learned to work my way around that initial location query page. I understand the need to give preference to U.K. customers, but I’ve been a customer of the RM for many years.
  9. I love the design! Very modern. I like how the circularity of the helmet continues through to the wave. Nice! I ordered the 2 coin proof/RP set. Should look great in hand. I usually prefer 2 oz. coins, but this set looks too good to pass up.
  10. I do not dislike the design. The series is what it is. I ordered the two coin set. However, this may be my last TB (and Royal Monarchs) purchase because I’m just tired of the dragged out series.
  11. Every time I look at this coin, I keep seeing the same thing. To me, the lion looks like KCIII. (However, in reality, I know he’s a tiger.)
  12. John Mercanti is a marketed creation. He designs a lot of coins, but not many would be considered great IMO. It’s all marketing. Everywhere you turn here in the U.S., another Mercanti coin pops up. He is saturating the market. Just my opinion.
  13. Here in the U.S., GovMint is marketing the heck out of these as the greatest ever. Mercanti signs so many labels, even for coins he has nothing to do with. GovMint is charging $495 (USD) for a 2 oz. silver and $295 for a 1 oz. silver. Coins are NGC PF70 FDI. I would get them from the Royal Mint. Probably not PF70, but MUCH cheaper. If I bought a 2 oz. silver from the RM, it would cost me about $215 including shipment to the U.S.
  14. I ordered my usual 2 bars. My wife loves to throw these at me (just to test my reflexes, of course). I'm getting pretty good at evading her bullet throws - almost all of the time. This year, I hope for improvement in my quest to evade all of her throws. Getting tougher as I get older! 😭
  15. My Morgan Le Fay arrived today in the U.S. - a mere 7 days after I ordered it. Not bad!
  16. I bought a sealed bag of 20 of these 50p coins.
  17. The Morgan Le Fay is available on the RM website today. I ordered the 2 oz. silver to complete my collection of the three coins. I agree that the RM is issuing way too many coins. Collectors' wallets are not bottomless!
  18. 10% of the mintage (400,000) is reserved for release date (August 9). The rest has gone to subscribers, bulk purchasers, etc. There is a purchase limit of 25, so what's remaining could get snapped up quickly.
  19. Both the gold and silver RP look awesome. I decided to bite the bullet and get the silver because it just looks too good for me to pass up. Plus, not knowing the mintage of the RP (it’s part of the total proof mintage), I was afraid it would sell out quickly.
  20. Just to add a bit more to the mystery, the reverse proofs available in the U.S. through GovMint have a different label - Tower Bridge rather than the photo of Charles.
  21. Wink, wink! Gotta have those connections! Spend more, wine and dine, and shower them with nice Christmas presents. That will allow you to become an ersatz U.S. citizen just to purchase the coin.
  22. And the sticky glue would be so strong that it would be next to impossible to get it off cleanly. The QC team takes their work very seriously!
  23. I got both the Morgan and Peace uncirculated dollars via subscription. I will also be getting the proofs and reverse proof set. They are simply beautiful coins. The US Mint's subscription program is saving us a lot of grief here. The flippers used to make it impossible for us collectors to get the coins we want. The Mint solved the problem for many of its coins with the subscription program. It's great! And, yes, I collect coins from the UK, too! QC issues aside, there are many absolutely beautiful coins. The problem I have with the RM is that they produce way too many issues. There are times when my head spins from all the issues (aside from my wallet being emptied). I collect whatever appeals to me, particularly the British Monarchs, Sovereigns, Great Engravers, Coronation series, British music, Queen's Beasts, etc. - all in silver.
