Royal Mint 2019 Silver Proof Collection

Mintage - less than 1000, official numbers as yet unreleased...I'd guess about 650.

A good-looking set featuring, amongst others, the Wedgwood and Pepys £2 coins and the Queen Victoria (young head) £5 crown.

I again transferred the set to a wooden "Premium Proof" box - including the 2019 RM Medallion - for storage in preference to the original shiny black box.

Nice shots again. Get the set up time trimmed a little?

How many of the proof sets do you have now, and what's the plan/target?

Two nice items arrived today, the 5oz Aztec calendar from Samoa in proof and the last issue of the 8 piece China Dragon Restrike series in antique finish. Here is an overview, but I could not afford the gold ones. Greetings from Maxe.

Stunning stuff sir. I'd take any of them, but my pick would be the 2017. I'm waiting for a 2022, and I  truth I didn't love it early on, but alongside its stablemates it actually stands up quite well I think.

Didn't get this today but it's worthy for a look, picked the coin up loose at auction a while back, @CoinStruck kindly got this graded for me and it came back as one of a kind! MS63PL cost me less than a modern proof sovereign, and the closest thing to a Victoria Young head proof I'm likely to have in my collection baring a lottery win.    I've picked up loads of other loose sovereigns (We won't say raw)  at auction waiting grading.  She's a beauty.......

A lovely set and one I’ve tucked away.  Pleased you’ve added one to your superior and outstanding collection.

The best for me is 1989… brave, bold and different especially at that moment.  The fact that ‘heads and tails’ are both redesigned is pretty cool!

looking back (?!) at the 2022 should the mint have been braver with the design? I’m inclined to think they should have.

I also feel the original R’mint advertising for the 2022 Sov special reverse did not show the 2017 reverse… which is the original and all time classic!!!

But the more I look at the 2022 the more I like it 🔥

Yes that’s what I said when I saw the 2022 Sovereign design. It’s cool yeah, but it could have been so much more detailed and enhanced with intricacy like the older coins. It looks a bit safe / easy / lacking in effort.

I think it’s the 1989… winning out so slightly

over the 2017. The 1989 has just ao

much history (500 years) behind it.

As a man fortunate enough to own them all, and see them in the flesh, what order would you put the sovereigns in @richatthecroft?

Unfortunately, like I said in the original post, I only have the 4 coin 2012 Set- and still on the lookout for a 2012 5 Pound- But I have the other five, 5 Sovereign down sets.

They are all nice 😃 And any 5 Pound Sovereign is spectacular.
My preference of the special reverses are in this order:

1. 2017- Classic Pistrucci design- a winner every day in my book.

2. 2022- a traditional Royal Arms design that’s fitting for such a remarkable Achievement of a Platinum Jubilee.

3. 2005- Reminiscent of the 1935 stylised Rocking Horse Crown.

4. 2012- an intricate and exciting take on the George & Dragon design- the Dragon looks fearsome, the Horse terrified and St George focussed and driven.

5. 1989- a classic intricate design and most people’s favourite.

6. 2002- beautiful understated design.

They are all winners.

The 1989 istge hands down winner imo! I have drooled over it many a time on ebay but never quite justified the price, as im a stacker at heart. Then followed by the 2002 which I own the 3 coin set.

Nice photos. Thanks.
