Purchased a special sovereign off @James32 last week which means I owe a massive thanks to everyone on TSF as I've hit the 1kg of gold in full sovereigns 🙂 (That's 137 to save anyone counting 😂). I started this journey just under 3 years ago after happening upon TSF after looking up what one was worth that was given to me by my grandparents when I was born. Gave myself the target of 1kg in 10 years (1 per month plus a few) and have smashed that. Honestly the best decision I've done and a great little nest egg for retirement. Here's to the next kg and once again, thank you all 😀🥰

2017 1/50th ounce proof Krugerrand - PF70 UCAM Thanks to @ZRPMs. Purchased to both break my personal record for the smallest coin in my collection, and as a photography challenge. I've used the microscope to take these pics, since as you can see, the coin is less than 10mm diameter. I will try with the macro SLR rig some time this week, to see if I can a more arty picture. Remarkable a coin this size can be created at all, let alone it achieve the highest grade.

@Petra It's mainly the special reverse I like although I have got two standard doubles, I love the doubles great size for seeing the beauty of the coin.

My Pistrucci Great Engraver finally arrived. Just the wee 2oz Silver. Delighted to say it is absolutely spot on. Notwithstanding the obligatory detritus in the capsule! It really is a peach of a coin, superb presentation too - I wonder why can't RM do this consistently though?

Been after a George III sovereign in a reasonable condition for a little while and was delighted to be able to pick up this XF40. I am just trying to decide whether to release it from the slab. Would really like a William IV sovereign in an extremely fine condition (doesn’t need to be slabbed) as well but you don’t see many at a reasonable price.

Received my beautiful new addition to the Nautical series, the new 2023, courtesy of Silver Trader. Could not agree more with @AgD absolutely stunning series. Although I've still not plucked up the courage to take them out of their OMP! Wish the 2017 packaging didn't have that orange peel textured finish to it though. Hmmmm still can't pick my favourite one.....maybe the Mayflower or perhaps the USS Constitution 🤔

Completely disagree In 1965 I spent half my first months wages on four gold sovereigns costing £16 in total I still have those four to this day worth around £1800 in total So is a starting wage today £3600 per month? Gold is indeed a reliable long term store on value
