2022 Sovereign design revealed?

The Sovereign release seems to be around the middle of November, as that is the embargo time the Mint have set. I have seen the design today, and it is very close to those put forward on here, but I will not say anymore. It looks like prices will be very similar to recent years so no massive price hikes.

My understanding but not confirmed as yet is that we are awaiting the Great Engravers coin this month, so before the sovereign.

So any idea roughly what the 2022 sov will cost?

Regards.

I can say that the 2021 Proof Sovereign was £585 😉

Just hit on a possible variation on the Royal Coat of Arms

Anybody recognise it?

The Chinese Back Street Mint are watching this post with great interest and have already roughed out some Sovereign dies with this shield design probably due for release on Alibaba mid November 😂 🤣

I think the 2022 design will be a hit but  in the long run I can’t see it being that special.       With the royal mint now being run for profit rather than to just mint coins can see this happening more and more.    Look at all the different privy coins produced in last 5 years I can see that they will produce a ‘one off’ design every few years

A little more information on the Platinum Jubilee sovereign and a little update on the Great Engravers coin.

The release date is in the middle of November - The prices I think look the same to me as last years 2021 coins. - The design is based on my new updated concept image, slightly reworked by Timothy Noad. I am not aware of any change to the obverse portrait. These images are as close as I can post and come from the 2008 pound coin.

(I have heard Great Engravers now due early December)

Nice.

Do you now if there will be any Struck on the Day versions?

I cannot confirm that, but I do know other Platinum Jubilee coins will follow early in the new year.
