Three graces coin

Recommended Posts

to the two whose coins got a PF 67, I feel your pain.

It happened to me with my silver una despite buying it from the coin connection at the time. I removed it from it's capsule and placed it in a flip, the flip was a little small for the coin so I guess it got damaged in transit.

So my advice to anyone who has not sent their 3G for grading yet is  send it in its original capsule.

Do you think PCGS graded 3G will be a better choice? Hundreds of 3G 2 OZ coins at NGC, just 10 at PCGS. Usually there is no difference between both companies for me, but in this case maybe a better choice?

Doubt grading company will matter too much - some collectors have a preferred grader and/or slab but the majority seem to buy regardless of the grader (if it’s PCGS or NGC)

Far east buyers prefer to buy PCGS where possible and will pay a premium to get the same grade coin in PCGS slab, ive been told by a couple of sources dealing in higher than average priced coins

It is common knowledge that PCGS give out fewer 70's than NGC

I prefer the ngc slab and would much rather have a ngc 70 than a pcgs 69

I hear the importance of grading for you on hear, I cannot see NGC or PCGS making a huge difference on price, and here in the UK you have to send your coins to Paris for PCGS and with BREXIT, insurance and the Pandemic it feels a lot more comfortable sending coins next day delivery to London.

Also you you say the certificate number has a bearing on value, would you pay more for a lower certificate number ?

The mintage is 100.

Considering a 10oz 3G is selling for roughly £10k and has a higher mintage, the 1 kilo is a bargain in comparison.  LPM has exclusive rights to the 2kg and that is selling for about £28k (mintage of 50). I would have thought the start price on the 1 kilo from BCC would have been higher... I do think they are listing it at fair market value.

@ExpatBrian, apparently your view was shared by lots of others as the vast majority are already sold.

That’s great news. I think there is an issue with the 10oz though......

The 10oz I have does not seem to have any sensible interest at all. A few business have asked me about it but they have rates and taxes etc and of course won’t pay the amount that an individual buyer would pay. Further, no one in Asia wanted to make a sensible offer (one person offered me less for it than they would be prepared to pay for the 5oz .....) and in the UK it seems people I have spoken to are not interested in it at all. I feel like the 10oz is a massive failure if I am being honest. Probably not helped by the fact there has been no information about it at all. At least you can get the 1kg and the 2kg from dealers. The 10oz is just an enigma, I think.

It’s going to be in an auction soon (you will no doubt see it for sale if you keep your eyes peeled) and I am happy to sell it and run with the money to be honest. It feels very odd in retrospect and almost like a middle-ish coin that people just are not that interested in. Whilst I was interested also in the 1kg and 2kg coins I have very much now decided that it has become a bit of a gimmick. For me the coins to own are the 2oz Silver and the 2oz Gold. Everything else is just too big and expensive and as the series develops it will become harder and harder to maintain the collection.

Just some thoughts. Happy weekend all.

I wish I could have afforded gold but a 2oz silver is fine

I am keeping mine now it owes me nothing so all good It caused me so much headache over nothing its a lovely coin and unfortunately got hyped up so much the flippers went mental

They seem to do it constantly on every new release saying I got this sold out anyone want to pay double issue price

I took some advice a few weeks back and I am now back on track

Although bring on the next if its the gothic I will definitely  get in the queue

The first NGC UK Three Graces PF70 has sold on FleaBay earlier today

x1 bid/sold at £4,000

No multi bidding frenzy to bag a 70.  With only one bid, might have been a trial bid to get the ball rolling from a friend or family ?

Just out of curiosity... if the price of silver where to say double....do coins like the three graces also double or does that not tend to be the to be the way it works 🤔

I have been lucky enough to see the 2oz, 5oz and 10oz silver Three Graces and the 2oz gold. In my humble opinion the 10oz silver looks the best.

Absolutely agree. It is an incredible coin to hold. The brilliant look and perfection of the large 5oz but with the added weight. It’s incredible to hold in the hand.

Which is why I am still scratching my head about the general response and lack of interest...

Do you think a lot of people overspent on the initial releases and then with little advertising/coverage its slipped under the radar for the moment  ?

it will only take a few 'unexpected / bidded up' sales at coin auctions for the heard to follow that next.

To think Una & Lion didnt sell out instantly

It was readily available at not much more than list price, which a lot of folk moaned about

It took a high profile/prestigeous/signature auction Stateside to bid up a still easily obtained £ Three figure coin in the UK to over five figure coin SS USA

. . . . . . .and the rest if history

Same for the 2oz gold, £4k issue to £8k on Fleabay, to £12k fleabay, to £15k, to £18k fleabay, to £29k at auction, to £59k at auction to £80k at auction in Japan and none spotted for sale since under £80k

If it had not been for this first five figure sale in USA, there wouldn't be anywhere near this hype, demand or rush for grading for these new Three Graces release
