I am just having this situation. Posted 4 items in one package to the buyer by Special Delivery. Tracking shows the parcel was delivered, and signed "COV" which may have something to do with Covid? The buyer has raised an "item not received" claim. I have the receipt showing the item was sent at the post office, and a photo of the parcel in the post office with the tracking number showing clearly.

I'm nervous as if eBay decides in the buyers' favour I could lose over £350.

I'm not sure what I can do to protect myself against this situation.

eBay should side with you if you added a tracking number which now shows that it was delivered. I don't think the COV signatures make any difference as I had this happen with a parcel that didn't even need a signature.

So - is anyone willing to elaborate on what was inside? Or whether anyone found a particularly shiny surprise?

I see they released another 50 with another sovereign surprise, so they must have been popular.

They're not being dispatched until the week commencing 13 December. That's why this thread had been rather quiet in the meantime 😃

This is great advice and for reasons you state and other reasons is why I no longer sell via eBay.

Only early this year I had a customer claim he hadn’t received his order, tracking details were provided to eBay and they looked in his favour. He got a refund and I lost £120.

Ebay will never support you if you choose to sell with them.

That's not what I would have expected. Did the tracking not show what they wanted?

When I had a buyer open an "item not received" case, I was suspicious because the tracking showed it had been delivered the day before and it just felt a bit too soon to be making a claim. I left it for a week and eBay closed it in my favour because the tracking number I had uploaded showed that it had been delivered.

Unless eBay also refunded the buyer without telling me, I assume it was a proper scam attempt, as the buyer never made contact again and I noticed their account was closed a few weeks later :o

You might well be correct- I'll edit my post above, as I haven't bought any to test them out however, the Sovereign caps listed here look very similar to the Sovereign capsules in the sets:

They haven't sold any screw caps for a long time.

I bought a pack of the sovereign cases yesterday funnily enough, and they arrived today. They look the same but I haven't tried them in the boxes yet.

It would be great of this causes an actual change in the QC process at the mint. It is a shame because it's the one area they fall foul on, but is probably the most important aspect of what they do due to the products they are selling. Good effort there B 👏

It might just make next year's Sovereigns even more expensive 😃

Be careful blowing as no matter how much you dry your lips beforehand, you are blowing moisture onto the coin. Check it under a loupe as there could be very faint trails on the coin now. Don’t want to worry you but this is something that does happen a lot. This is why I always use compressed air to check the surface is not marked etc.

This is excellent advice, but I was super-prepared (it happens!) and used a photographic sensor cleaning blower instead of my own lung-juice.

Some types of compressed air might be a bit risky too, as they could scatter teeny particles of lubricant from the can or compressor.

  7. Okay, I mentally prepared myself for the unboxing, and oh my!  I'd been keeping the delivery box upright ever since I got it, but upon opening it I discovered the 3-coin set was actually upside down in the delivery box the whole time :D Thankfully no coins had escaped, but the set had a MASSIVE black bit on the middle of the quarter sovereign. Thankfully on closer inspection it turned out to be a bit of the black foam ring that had broken free, but it wasn't budging on its own and I had to get out the finger condoms and a small screwdriver to tease the ring out and blow it (don't...) before all was good. With that sorted, I'm glad all three coins are perfect.

    So onto the final box...

    All good! :D

I have been told to expect my sovereign in January. Anyone else been told this?

I find that hard to believe, but on the other hand there must be more to it than just the logistics of shipping them - e.g. I ordered a non-Sovereign coin yesterday and it arrived today, so no problems there. 🤯

  9. I also have some individual items (but not orders) that are completely missing from my closed and open orders, but the orders are showing the correct total amount including the invisible items. If that makes sense :D

I still can't work out why I've got 4 parcels. I will find out later as I like saving up my disappointment for later in the day. Maybe they've preemptively sent me some spare coins to save some hassle, haha!

I've used this service several times and it's been 100%

I found it quite concerning when I first used it, back when they were still ironing out the bugs and the post men and women weren't too familiar with it themselves.

For starters, they don't give you a physical receipt, which I found a bit scary, so you have to hope they scan it properly and that it's reflected online.

The second time I ever used it, I handed over a small parcel and it got scanned and taken away.  I then got an email a few minutes later confirming it had been delivered!  Lo and behold, the tracking did indeed show it had been delivered.  Thankfully it did actually arrive at its intended destination a couple of days later but I was starting to worry!

    📣 Announcement! 📣

My local Post Office has no staff and are currently in a state of limbo. There hours are not defined but I am working to get all orders out.

This is out of my control but all buyers have my word that their orders will be fulfilled.

Thank you all for your patience.

    Thank you!

    Duncan. 🌟

I don't know if this is of any use for you, but I used this when my post office was inaccessible: https://send.royalmail.com/collect/youritems

They will also collect Special Delivery items from your doorstep, but they add a day to the delivery guarantee when it's collected this way. Looks like it costs 60p per item now but it was free when I tried it.
