That seems rather unfair! Looking at his picture I am sure he would have made a very fine, valued and loved BBC children's TV presenter in the 70s or 80s
Looking at that picture, he might have gone the same way as most of the BBC Children's presenters from the 70's and 80's., "D'you know what it is yet, sport!" 🤢

Although I am not a big fan of gilded silver coins, I felt that these seven just about merit a place in a complete collection...although I do draw the line at the felt-tip pen coloured cereal packet tokens. The actual mintages of all three were quite similar to their proof counterparts, - this translating into what I consider to be somewhat unjustified high prices outside Australia. In summary, quite an attractive set but only worthy of purchase by avid agroophiles until prices fall.@47Ag79Au78Pt@richatthecroft @JonCL@Peterheat@StackSellRepeat@HGr@Zhorro@StackerCollector@UnoWho@Gildeon@ZigZag@Jamesd@Robda1986@Marko@platinreloaded@MrTT@GavinDevon@Roy
Thanks for posting. I’m trying to get a sense of scale; are they about the size of a 5p piece? If so they’ve crafted a very clean, tidy coin with very high production value.
How do they manage to guild so precisely that the boundaries between silver and gold are laser smooth... and produce them in quantity? Very nice. 👍🏽

Over the moon that I've finished my collection of the QB series with these two. Many thanks to @GSTrading. For a long while I didn't get why the Griffin commanded such high premiums compared to other QB's but now looking at the detailing in the breast and wing feathers, the relief of this imprint really 'pops'. It's a lovely looking coin.
The Yale, however looks a bit underwhelming. I'm not sure if this is what you get for bullion grade, but no matter how I lit it or moved the camera, I couldn't get the 'warty goat' to look good. Meh! On the other hand, he obverse of the later QB's is definitely smarter with the anti-forgery milling round Her Maj's head making a really smart finish.
What next...?

Pics don't do justice to all the original mint lustre still present.
Lovely coin and a beautiful quality picture! I can never seem to photo my coins to look as sharp and clear as that; Did you use a phone camera? Thanks for posting.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if its a stupid question.
But does anyone know best place to get best deals on ancient silver coins from the Roman period.
Any links would be greatly appreciated.
Try Silbury Coins Click here. I’ve just bought a silver Denarius for a birthday present. Very good service. Worth asking about “Certificates of Authenticity” though.

My daughter turns 16 in a few days. She's mad about the classical world and civilisations and Romans and that sort of thing, and one day, wants to study or get a job related to that. Anyhow, she was telling me all about the vicious life of one Emperor Caracalla who was known as Rome's ugliest Emperor and who, by all accounts lead a pretty brutal, miserable life, ( I had to google him!) and who, after murdering his mother and brother, was assassinated by a centurion. She found this story hilarious for some reason.... So I was blown away when I managed to find this little beauty. I keep looking at the CoA and shaking my head because I can't get my head round the fact that this little scrap of silver is 1800 years old!! She's going to love it. Can's wait to see her face when she realises who's scowling, grumpy head is on this coin!!

Joining the crowd and getting hold of a new Greyhound. Say what you like about the QB range, they are really VERY satisfying coins to own. The detailing of the minting and the chunky 2oz thickness make this a thing of joy! Thanks to @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer. I do need to get myself a "feeler" QB just to keep in my pocket....

Really beautiful photos! The super macro shots really show off the detailed craftsmanship. I can't imagine how they sculpt the dies for these coins. Amazing... Thanks for posting.

It doesn’t stop catching my breath how brilliant and sparkly silver is, and the QB designs and mintage really brings out the very best. Many thanks @GSTrading

DJust came across this article while I was having a mooch about various PM dealers: LINK. Just check out the sheer volume of gold the Russian state is hoovering up as they and many others dump their U.S. holdings..... and China’s not only stockpiling, they’re actually buying the gold mines too,! China link!
That would go some way to explaining why supply’s been short and massively outstripped by demand. If anyone can find a counter argument that would be interesting because these links are a bit gold-biased... but it really looks like gold’s set to rise.
My murky crystal ball is saying “ditch the silver... go for gold....Mmmmmmmmmmmm🤔

as old a gold coin as possible
Just out of curiosity, I did a bit of Google mining. If you want REALLY old gold for sale Click here. 44BC Should do it!!
The only snag is the 587% premium. (Oh ... and add postage)... I bet it holds its value though.🤑

My apologies. I don’t know how that happens. I’m not entirely sure how to reattribute those words to the owner. I’ll give it a shot.
