Royal Mint British Monarchs Collection

Loving this thread! The new coin looks great. I will be trying to get the 2oz silver and gold. I’m guess they won’t be charging the higher great engraver rates and will likely be the c. £185 and c.£4,500 mark? What do others think? Also, anyone think there will be any secondary market madness tomorrow? If there are only 150 2oz gold as suggested by the great @GrahamDiamond then are we looking at a price of £8k upwards? Or will it be another James Bond or Music Legends and struggle??

Who knows!?

Might try for 2oz silver. 2oz Gold at almost £5k seems a bit of a gamble on this one for me. Then again I’m still not a fan of the actual coin so might not even bother. I’m guessing a lot will get sent back if all the PF70s have been cherry picked out leaving 50 or so 69s. I might do a queue test though and see where I arrive 😂

So due to 100 PF70s I’m guessing the value will drop on the 69s to less than £4K when the flippers bottle it in 3-4 weeks time (assuming they don’t return them). A nice experiment by the mint this one but I expect it to sell out even faster unless they are also selling the PF70s themselves at the same time 🤔

Have the mint gone with NGC here? My understanding was that past issues (mayflower and war/peace) meant they tore that deal up. I believe this was more of a partnership thing, perhaps. Either way, we could be left with a small amount of 69s……I will review tomorrow when I get to the front of the queue and see what is left on the shelves!!

I think so. Maybe all via Sov Rarities though if not direct to NGC?

Is it me missing something, these gold £100 1oz coins don't seem to appear in the gazette? It only mentioned the 200 2oz unless I missed it entirely?

that label isn't a Royal Mint label either, I'm wondering if its a special commission like they did on the QB Completer and it wont actually be for sale via RM. We’ll be offered the 2oz gold where the 1oz is from MCM or somewhere like that?

Edit: Pretty sure its MCM.

Got an email this morning to register interest in the new British Monarchs Collection. It looks like the first coin will be Henry VII.

A little blurb from the Royal Mint: "Using historical coin designs, it will feature a range of coinage portraits for iconic monarchs from British history. Each coin bears an original coinage portrait of a monarch as it appeared during their reign, transposed from genuine historical samples using state-of-the-art technology and faithfully recreated for contemporary coinage"

It looks like these are the coins: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3922613

Sounds like a solid winner to me, does anyone know more?

So it could look like this:

I anyone wants to visit Blackpool, I can show you one of my testoons!
