Got my portrait today, can anyone please advise if this is returnable or if it would be classed as 'within tolerance' by RM

Cap top was not even on when it arrived

I have circled the scratches I can see

Also received my 1oz King James and that had a massive fingerprint on the face, that's 100% going straight back

If that is 100% definitely a scratch I would return immediately

Don't worry about what is 'within tolerance' you can return for any reason under distance selling

Thanks a lot guys, I have followed your advice on here :) labels printed and I will be popping to the post office shortly.

Spoke to a lovely lady on the phone as well, I feel really bad for the ladies answering the phones as they must hear the same thing all day, groundhog day for them

I have opted for an exchange on the portrait so will see how that goes

I have had coins in the past that I was convinced of scratches. The light even glistened off the "scratch". Turns out they were just debris.

I don't mean to doubt anyone's judgement and if they are indeed scratches then I would return for sure. But looks can be deceiving.

It is worth investing in one of these -

Very happy to say I have received THREE perfect examples of James 1st

Actually really love this coin and this series is going to look SO GOOD when done.

I have Three coins, I only need one....

So...

Some of you may recall an incredibly generous gift from @Rll1288 Who sold me his Henry at mint issue price when I had a bad one delivered from the mint.

So I am paying this generosity forward by giving @Rll1288 one of these at issue price and also to one other lucky forum member.

That other member has been selected already based on the level of annoyance I sensed when they shared their disappointment in this thread on release day.

Congrats though

I received a gothic portrait and James I today (2oz)

The presentation for James I is much better than the gothic portrait.

Glossy box which is bigger, little cloth etc.

Surprising as its cheaper than the gothic portrait.

I will dig henry out later to see if that was the same.

The box for the 2 oz. silver Henry VII is also bigger and glossier than for the 1 oz.  Nice presentation.

The 2 and 5 OZ Henry coins has the same glossy box. 2 OZ Britannias and my 2 OZ The Who, so i guess all 2 OZ Music Legends, also. Just the Tudors has the same cheap a.. packaging, like the Great Engravers. I guess they could send the Great Engravers coins just in plastic bags and i would still miss them. By the way, i ordered Monday a Gothic Arms/Portrait pair, today came the dispatch confirmation.🤪 Please, let them be problem free...

This looks so much nicer, than the images on RM side. It's "just" proof finish, or did they try to catch the original finish? Whatever, this one looks nice. Can't wait for my coins. Enjoy it👍

I have to ask BYB with respect....but how do you always manage to get every coin like these on the release day..is there a secret...or do you automatically get assigned all these releases..just curious.

Lucky??? I think your very lucky..I wish I had your luck...But good luck to anyone who manages to get the new releases but a part of me seems the same people getting all the new releases first..a nice position to be in but for others like me and others...its always a gamble and often don't get anything at all... puts new collectors in a last horse position lol...but good for you to always get what you want.. just wish I had the chance to get one coin when it's release...refuse to go on the secondary market and get ripped off....Guess I will keep trying, maybe one day I might be lucky..haha...

Regards

S.

Had payment issues with the portraits, called them, asked the guy for a quartered arms, he asked someone else. Than told me, i can have one. Dikefalos very happy and thankful. Never got a Great Engravers release on release and i'm not a big customer.

And the mint still advertise the 2 OZ coins with the cheap box, instead of the nice one. Maybe they run out of cardboard and had to take the nice boxes.🤣
