Royal Mint British Monarchs Collection

I wouldn't buy this new collection at spot. Sloppy and amateurish. Looks like they commissioned a 7 year old to have a crack at them. Credit to the British Museum for the photo of the coin on the left and Royal Mint's version on the right. I only spent 2 mins looking but I'm sure there's probably a better condition one they could have referenced.

.. which really surprises me! I must have terrible taste.

It's obviously subjective and people buy what they like. Design is close to my heart due to my profession and I don't like to see bad design rewarded which is why I'm definitely not jumping on this particular train. I know they're supposed to look 'old' and somewhat rudimentary but I just think it's been conveyed in a terrible way. It's a great idea for a collection but the execution has let it down IMO. I can't see them lasting the test of time when the original portraits look better even now? Another example:

Might have more to do with this being new and different,Where as the tudor Beasts are yet more animals or a poorer queens beasts set.

Plus had lots of QC problems :)

Ah! Sorry, I'm a bit out of touch and wasn't fully aware of the Tudor Beasts. Just seen the panther and lion and they're awful in my view.

I thought you meant Queen's Beasts initially (which I really like) so I was surprised.

I really quite like these. Disappointed we’ve not had the next instalment on time.  Even stumped for the 1oz gold in the Henry

Aaaahhh😉

Anyone have an idea when the next Royal Monarchs will be available?

When they sort their existing messes out most likely 😉

It's not very professional of the RM.. They give us a timelines's of these releases King George being the next one to be released in June and nothing, no explanation, not even an statement on their site to clarify why they havnt released this coin? I don't know about you but I think the RM's reputation is going down faster than the Titanic..

Had the email, here comes the queuing 🤣

Being in the central U.S., I would have to enter the queue at 6:00 a.m. here.  Not the best time for me.  So, I already have my pre-order in with a dealer. Costs more, but saves my nerves.
