 Well two weeks ago they were making big promises of reforms and promoting diversity etc. I think while the mint are adressing these important issues we can hardly expect them to waste their limited resources on trivialites such as quality control.

 Seriously though they need to get on top of this, it's every release and it's not as if it's small numbers. There are complaints galore on here from people who know what they are looking at but how many people out there just buy a nice commemorate coin as a gift etc not really knowing what to check and end up landed with something that should be returned

This is how it looked when I opened the box. Why aren’t RM using the screw capsules anymore!!!! 😩

How the hell has this happened, I’m so annoyed and disappointed.

 

 

This started happening when the RM stopped using screw type capsules, we always put extra packing inside the box so the capsule cannot open. A small piece bubble wrap below and above the coin to create a kind of sandwich. It is very poor of the mint and we have complained many times..

Exactly, I imagine the cost to RM is pence. I couldn’t believe it when I opened the box, god only knows how long it’s been having a ‘party’ out of the capsule.

I haven’t inspected it closely or under the loupe but the shine has been well and truly been taken off for me.

Luckily my half sovereign was ok.

I have pre empted them sending mine by bombarding them with the same request for tightly fitted capsules and tape or selotape put on the capsules. Everytime they reply, I reply…..

Everyone who has posted on this thread or elsewhere with issues absolutely should follow Backyard Bullion’s example and email the CEO directly this week to complain.

leighton.john@royalmint.com is the one to send to as it is a working email address.

I do think they will get round to us, I think the order would just vanish if not - I also said i dont want someone else's returned coins and they assured me that would not be the case.

I really hope not! I have waited long enough to have a fresh set and not someone elses QC returns, I did make this point clear to them on the phone and they assured me that the returned coins did not get then sent back out. Maybe they are having to remint tons of them. Its a bit of a joke really!

To be fair a complaint i sent to the CEO Anne Jessop last year was dealt with superbly, fast and resolved by the right folk in right places, way beyond my expectations BYB so have faith
