Yay won something !

#97 2001 1/4 Britannia PF70 = £450

Fair price i think

I picked up a PF70 Peter Rabbit 50p for the granddaughter for £825 . Three weeks earlier the very same coin sold for £870 (inc post ) on eBay .  I think it was originally sold by Royal Mint for £1005 . That's a big loss for a few buyers

a lot of stuff sold well for good price but was a good few bargains/fairly priced to be had

buy the dips as they say

the next auction the £825 auction price will sell much higher - all luck of the draw

To be honest this was first my purchase on the Coin Cabinet auction . I was very impressed with the lay out , the quality of coins , 0% buyers premium . Like you say some real bargains to be had .  I think in future i'll give eBay a miss and save my money for this auction and the forum which also has some good stuff at great prices .

Do you think more dealers should hold these auctions? eBay is certainly not the platform it once was for coins, we sell very little there nowadays.

I actually lost a substantial amount of money when an auctioneer ( not coin related) went bankrupt a few years ago .  I'd be worried if the market became saturated with every Tom **** and Harry. I'd only stick with a well established , well known business . Having said that , this crook was well established . He just got too flash with his lifestyle and stopped paying clients. It's all a gamble. That's why forums like this are great . They can make people aware of problems that may crop up. eBay is mostly overpriced and quite a few fakes.

I don't know if its the same over there as here but ebay changed its commission for gold and silver from a flat 10% to now over 12.5% which when added to paypal with their 3% off the top makes for almost 16% as both take it from the sale and not the residue after the other took a chunk......its almost the same as a local auction takes...the cut can kill profit on a lot of sales and in cases of high coin values can drop slightly after it crosses $1000 but still make for one difficult time compared to local trades, perhaps why so many slabbed card buyers now trade in shows rather then sell through these online of offline auctions.

Interesting to see how the Graces do at the Sovereign rarities auctions today...

5oz Gold is strong touching almost £50k including the 24%(inc vat) buyers fees - it's also the first graded example Ive seen in auction.
2oz Gold at £32,240 - I imagine this will hit 40+
2oz silver currently at £3720 - looking likely to beat the previous sale price at TCC

Not to mention the PF70 2oz gold Una currently at £48k (+20%+VAT premium)... 😉

Is anyone else surprised that the 2oz Una sold for £62,000 (with premium + vat)?  I was expecting/hoping it would hit £80k, to match the Una hammer price on that Far East auction that for the life of me I cannot find online...

The Three Graces gold 5oz and 2oz are coming out of the block strong!

Comparing to the TCC; 3G 2oz sold for 41k - minus 9% fee = 37.3k for seller 🤷‍♂️

Silver

3G 2kg raw 17k

3G 2oz PF70 4k

Una 2oz PF69 2.4k

A well known coin dealer offered me 1100 for my 2oz silver NGC 70 today. I appreciate they need to make a profit, but I am not willing to go that low

Still a great price but must admit thought it would break 70k. The only thing is the UX of the auction isn’t great in a number of ways such as the pagination rather than infinity scroll, I couldn’t even register on iOS so I do wonder if that pushed a few buyers off. It’s also a new auction and others show that the first few auctions take a while to build up a base

yeah had a nose and registered for the auction, nice to have the video feed of auctioneer, but the user experience i not wonderful

But prefer auctionmobility platform (coincabinet/coinoftherealm use) - make it a nice experience viewing and bidding

The zero commission sales is a major plus for buyers, hammer price is what you pay much prefer that to old fashioned buyers premiums being added

Probably a big reason why coincabinet sales have gone so well and are popular
