I was a bit hesitant as to what my gold purchase for the month would be, until I saw this post. I definitely need to get the third instalment for my collection too, which would be the regular Matt BU coin. I think it's definitely a good buy/investment, since I doubt there will be more matt sovereigns in coming years. So collectors will always try to get at least one matt sovereign for their collections, and the 2019 matt BU would be the obvious choice (as the SOTD ones would not be readily available at reasonable prices). A mintage of 20,000 does not seem that much, really. Definitely a good buy and hold for the future. Just a shame the Royal Mint increased the prices recently by so much...
It's a nice 2019 set for sure. But disagree, I think based on previous royal mint cash cow-ing , there's more matt sovs to come. Surprised no talk of reverse proof release yet!

A weekly reversal bar - Pinocchio or pin bar!
If this bar breaks down (<17.95) i will make a SELL silver spreadbet (order already in place). i expect price to get down to fill the gap at around 17.40 area. This would be my first take profit area. After that price may get to 16.20/.40 which is a former resistance, now support area (with 150 EMA / 61.8 fibo confluence). I'd probably close my trade here and look for signal to buy and continue the upward trend.

I get him a Griffin of Edward coin and he is over the moon, but then asks "can you get me the one with the King Edward on it next time?" ... "you mean a sovereign".... "yeah the gold one, thanks!" 🤦♂️
All good so far, youngest 6yo only interested in some of the Beatrix Potter 50p, but constantly reminds me they dont look like the real one - the ceebeebies Peter Rabbit show!!
The elder 10 yo is happy just helping me sort through coins for swapping and listing. Did take a fancy to my Phoenix (https://thesilverforum.com/topic/11158-today-i-received/?do=findComment&comment=265048) gold coin but that was met with the swiftest of no ways/go aways! Though it has now got me thinking of searching their names on any coins, never really thought of that. Highly unexpected though!

The sister coins, the 20g one with the same face value nearly caused the collapse of the japanese government. with a face value when produced of ¥100,000 and a intrinsic gold value of only ¥30,000, well opportunistic counterfeiters were having a field day.

Been a bit excited for the last few weeks, but today I finally received this 30 g golden beauty! Hugest of thanks to @Marc
Long story short, i'm a bit of a fan of The Phoenix (sentimental place from my uni+ days), hence my collecting of most things Phoenix such as the dragon and phoenix coins here! https://thesilverforum.com/topic/11158-today-i-received/?do=findComment&comment=247324
During my many discussions with @Marc i told him about my affinity for Phoenix coins and he showed me one he had. From that moment i wanted it. Just loved the super design with the Phoenix and obviously the gold! I've got to learn more about the history behind it too. I think he was very reluctant to let it go, but i'm chuffed he did!
Here its is, A 30 g (¥100,000) gold proof (PF70) coin commemorating The Enthronement of Emperor Akihito (Heisei). This emperor recently abdicated, the first time an emperor has done so in over 200 years. They are not rare coins, about 100,000 of them in proof, but they are very scarce outside of Japan. Now that the emperor has abdicated they probably hold a bit more historical significance! There's quite a story about the Japanese 20 g gold coin from this era, but maybe @Marc can tell that story in another post!

I love these. I bought a couple 1gm ones when was out in India.
I would like to point out, unfortunately that your Saudi Guinea is also a restrike. The “MOM 22” on it indicates it as a jewellery piece
Cheers, yep realised yesterday after looking at ngc graded ones on interweb!
Probably reflecting back I think the jeweller checking said it was as a re strike. With current gold prices I might visit hgm and covert all these "fakes" to a real sov or 2. But in do like the weirdness of these Indian and Middle East real gold fakes!

Ah, OK I see.
Actually a quick google check of graded guineas, the MOM 22 probably indicates a jewellry re-strike (fake)

Thanks buddy, very interesting. Did the jeweller say the MOM 22 was an indication of it being a fake coin?
Sorry, i meant the sovs being fake. From what i believe the Saudi guinea is real!

You can twin it up with its copper counterpart. I think there is a 5 Oz as well
