This forum is for discussing PM’s NOT for conspiracy theories like you spout on every thread.

This is another thread I will be avoiding.

It's an important point you make. I suspect most people aren't interested in it.

It should be kept the the relevant parts of the forum.

That’s a gorgeous coin. John Bergdahl is one of the only RM designers (besides ex Jody Clark) whose designs are reminiscent of the intricate and detailed ones done by the 19th century engravers.

John Bergdahl also did the sixpence design which is lovely.

The other RM designers don’t come close - not even Timothy Noad. Although his 2022 Sovereign design is fine, it lacks detail and intricacy, and seems so simple, like he didn’t even need to “design” it; they could have just based the coin on any of the numerous versions of the Royal Coat of Arms already out there.

John Bergdahl is a bold designer. The other is Gary Breeze.

I didn't like this coin when it was released, the pictures didn't do anything at all for me.

It does look far better in the flesh, judging by these photos.

No ones claiming $20trillion worth of gold was stolen and the trillions of Oil, there is evidence shown and admitted that a lot of Gold was ordered to go to the US-led new Iraq government (clearly as payments). Plus, Halliburton had major stakes in Oil companies which were owned by **** Cheney AFTER Saddam got toppled on the WMDs lie.

The US put in a new gov, where the US (companies that are in direct relationship with the Pentagon) owned their major oil assets. Simple.

Western troops (US-UK) went in there to topple the government for elites to get wealthier.

The point being its old speculation.

The Libyan Chinese diplomat (the tweet shared) seems to imply the photos are rare. They aren't. He at least got that bit wrong.

Widely shared, for years, sometimes debunked.

We @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer were offered some, but our experience is that platinum does not sell well in the UK, partly because of VAT.

Was there a particular coin you were interested in? We may be able to help.🙂

I was looking after they went on sale.

Not that interested at the moment, but keeping an eye on the trial pieces

Okay so I made time to do some research especially for @dikefalos, @NewCoins and @SilverJacks 😀

Firstly, James I had quite a few portraits during his reign (some are so detailed and gorgeous, despite being hammered coins, that it puts current RM designers to shame with their bland and easy designs!).

I have tried to narrow down my guesses to coins that use the exact same inscription specified in the Gazette entry.

    IACOBVS · D : G : MAG : BRIT : FRAN : ET · HIB : REX ·

The coins also have all sorts of mint marks on the obverse, so it’ll be interesting to see if one of these are also reproduced or omitted.

    Here we go…

James I Unite. Second coinage, 1604-19; second bust. Lis mint mark.

James I Unite. Second coinage, 1604-19; fourth bust. Rose mint mark.

James I Double Crown. Second coinage, 1604-1619; fourth bust. Coronet mint mark.

The RM had sold one of these at one point, with a “rose to bell” mint mark (whatever that means).

James I Laurel. Third coinage, 1619-1620; first bust. Spur rowel mint mark.

    Scottish Double Crown

As for my guess… I have none.

I would love to see the Second coinage, second bust (the first pic above) because the portrait is so detailed and lovely. Also, the crown extends to the inscription and has an off-kilter but imposing presence.

However I think the RM will take the easy and safe path, and pick a design that is easy to replicate, like the Second coinage, fourth bust (second pic) or Scottish Double Crown (last pic) because the portrait is simple, and also fits neatly within the outer inscription circle.

    What are your guesses? 🙂

    Thats brilliant. Thanks.

You are a legend for sharing this stuff.

I would probably prefer the 2nd picture if pushed. But all look good.

    Looking forward to it.
