Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Only way I would wear sovereigns is half's on cuff-links, that would be quite cool

@James32 uses them for the trolley at Waitrose so I hear

Sovereigns for blazer buttons would be nice. 8 halves and 2/3/8 fulls depending on your blazer. Although you'll need to attach a ring on either side and that destroys it completely as a coin. I could only imagine doing that with very poor ones, Chards' grade C perhaps.

Not halfs though, he uses his custom piedfort ones for that.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

My Gold (and Silver) Sixpence vanity project continues with the 2022 Elizabeth II & 2023 Charles III 22ct Gold issues.
Beautiful John Bergdahl designs- these to follow on from the 2021 (the inaugural Gold) issues in both 22 & 24ct Gold.  Thanks again to @SilverMike for parting with the 2021’s a while back and introducing me to these sweet little Gold coins.

I hadn't realised until seeing this that the 2021 was available in both 22k and 24k!

2015 Gold Proof Fifth Portrait £1 Shield

As with the silver proof pound coins, several gold £1 shields can often be extremely hard to track down as they were never issued as individual coins. This 2015 Fifth was only offered within the 8-coin gold proof Circulating Coinage set, mintage just 245.

I'd never seen this particular coin offered on its Tod before, so I was a tad delighted to pick it up from the
@CoinsOfTheRealmAuctions auction for spot+ postage.

Shame about the mortuary slab.

Had my coins back from NGC. I sent in 29 coins,  28 of which obtained the top grade. Spot the lonely PF69!

I'm extremely happy and relieved, I was expecting a few PF70 but not 28 of them 🤣

This is a fantastic achievement, you must be delighted.

Did you submit them yourself?

A coin is not only a store of value but a store of beauty.

Who posted it the Royal Mint ? 🤣🤣🤣

Sovereign coin came with the original 2002 carded pack. I don’t stress over it much. It’s just cardboard. The blister packs are nicer in my opinion as the coin isn’t exposed.

Yes considering the astronomical premiums you would expect more lavish packaging if one were to purchase directly from the Royal Mint website 🤣

Let’s see if they improve QC in 2024…
