Today I Received.....

Message added by ChrisSilver

The Today I received section is for private individuals to share items they have purchased for their collection / as part of their investment.

The Today I received section is not to be used for businesses to promote their business. Trade members and those operating as a business in the eyes of the forum are invited to enquire about a Dealer Sub Forum, where you may start your own Today _____ received topic to post your commercial purchases. E.g. The Today Chards Received..... topic.

Minimum legal weight of a sovereign is about 7.93g before the banks have to withdraw it from circulation and return it to the Bank of England.  Later on they built high volume automated weighing machines that could go through sovs en masse and reject the underweight ones.

I’m a bit confused, the token pictured is 5dwt +21/2 grains

1 dwt is equal to 1.55517384g and is 24 grains so by my reckoning that token is 26.5 grains multiplied by 1.55517384 which is 41.2g 🥺

5dwt + 2.5grains = 5 x 1.55517.....g + 0.1619....g = 7.937...g, the minimal legal weight of a circulated sovereign.

Multiplying the number of grains by the number of grams in a pennyweight doesn't really make any sense, but more importantly there's actually 24 grains in a pennyweight.

So it's 122.5 grains in total, not 26.5.

One grain is 0.06479891 grams.

Wrong thread lol

Central bankers are politicians disguised as economists or bankers. They’re either incompetent or liars. So, either way, you’re never going to get a valid answer.” - Peter Schiff

Sound money is not a guarantee of a free society, but a free society is impossible without sound money. We are currently a society enslaved by debt.

Nope, it is exactly the correct thread!

We are debating here if this specific coin should be kept or recycled.

Look severely worn and damaged, I doubt it will pass the test...
