1. 2022 Platinum Jubilee SOTD
2. 2023 Coronation SOTD
But just my opinion.

The thing that doesn’t seem to make sense is the potential damage they’re doing to their brand.
They’ve stopped the series part way through, what’s to say that they won’t do this again with any future series?
People will likely be thinking twice before getting invested in a future series.
The British Monarchs was always going to be difficult for most people to complete in its entirety. It’s a pity RM didn’t foresee this and I feel for people who’ve been loyal to this series since the start.

This sovereign has a lot going for it.
It looks to be the 1862 wide date variety.

Panda collectors are notoriously wacky! 😇
That’s nothing.
Have you ever met a sovereign collector? 😆
One minute they’re buying bullion sovereigns and the next they’re up after midnight counting serrations and denticles looking to discover a new variety. 🤪

How on earth are under spots sovs still for sale?
Here; have a bump!
@katyc It’s a strange time to sell on the forum lately.
@shawy2510 I’m sure these will go soon. 😊

@arphethean the later Australian Sovereigns have a very weak strike. Probably getting the most out of a die.
The lines, or striations are common on later George V sovereigns.

I think I started that post. 😆

No significant Royal events / anniversaries this year.
The RM already did SotD Sovereigns for the 75th anniversaries of VE and VJ days in 2019.
It would be (imo) ridiculous to repeat it for the 80th. 🫤
VE Day and VJ Day were in 1945.
The 80th Anniversary is next year, maybe we’ll see SOTD and special new sets coming in 2025. -

I think no silver was added to sovereign in QEII times, but I may be wrong.
Would be good for @LawrenceChard to do a video with his XRF machine to show the last year of the sovereign that still had silver included.
Gillick sovereigns surely must have contained a small amount of silver. Otherwise they would have that copper ‘tint’ look like modern sovereigns.
-
@pricha I noticed that is said ‘The fine gold, mixed with copper’.
No mention of silver in the alloy, maybe as the silver was a small fraction not worth mentioning.

This has been shared before on the forum but for the newer members and members who haven’t seen this I thought I’d share.
It’s quite interesting to see.
Which makes me wonder, what would your job title be as the person to authenticate each coin.
Ring tester?
Future Numismatist’s Nightmare?
The video will explain all in plain Queen’s English nonetheless.

A capsule is like a:
- Condom
- Nodder
- French Letter
- Jonny
- Sheath
- Banana Burka
- Kitten Mitten
- One fingered glove
It stops those awful discolourations…
So I am told by good friends.
Best
Dicker
But @dicker by that logic, if you don’t put them in a ‘capsule’ then you get another sovereign 9 months later?
You’ve just got on average 18 years to pay for it. 😆

Sadly it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the cart.
But having said that, in the six years I’ve been a member of the forum, I’ve only ever seen this happen less than a handful of times. So new members needn’t worry.
Thankfully the forum runs on honesty and trust and there is plenty of that here.
@sellerstacker I really hope you manage to resolve this, one way or another.
