Not really the point, but I agree, Merlen's shield designs are great! 
Here are my 2 shield full sovs. 1929 & 1932.... more elaborate perhaps than Wyons later shield?
 
 

Personally I keep all of my gold coins in capsules. 
Why?  Simply because I am the custodian I want to preserve them for the next soul to own them.

Just arrived. Seems to be nothing special, but this is the beginning of my Sovereign collection.

A short visit to Geiger's this morning:
1 oz silver Ark 2020, 5 oz silver Ark 2020, and one of the very last 1/4 oz gold Ark 2017. 

In a way, in the recent past, the “silver sovereign” has already been issued by the Royal Mint, as a Crown, to commemorate special royal occasions, the most recent being for the birth of Prince George in 2013.

I believe previous to this it was the 1951 Crown to commemorate the centenary of the Great Exhibition in 1851.

I hope the RM keeps things this way - Pistrucci’s St. George and the Dragon design is special and a classic.

Perhaps the idea is that if you strike your own, they might be better than the ones the Royal Mint strikes! 🙂

That's not the lovely PM series. This must be the "Panther at night" by the Mint of Poland or the "Germany at night" by MDM. But i like the satin finish🤣

A 2020 Welsh silver £20.  These can only be bought new at the Royal Mint Experience in Wales.  Does anyone know if there is a 2021 version, or indeed whether the 2020 version is still on sale at the Experience?

Bought today from a local coin dealer, a nice Mahogany Peter Nichols ‘Mascle’ Coin Cabinet.
A lovely way in which to enjoy those special coin sets.  Let that nice Cabinet toning (and Cabinet friction) begin 😂👍 😃
